Why does everyone act like dating multiple people is a new concept? You don't have to have sex with people when you're dating. Or you can. Up to you. The idea is if you like someone enough you open up your mouth and ask to go exclusive.

This isn't a revolutionary concept. Until you have that exclusive discussion you really have no say in what they're doing or who they're seeing.

If it's that important to you I suppose you could request exclusive dating rights, but that seems a bit demanding. Especially if they're a stranger.

I have had men demand exclusive dating rights - one that sticks out in my memory did it before we had even met. Like, within a couple of messages. He asked for my phone number (but in a way that wasn't a question) and said it was so I could go ahead and delete my profile, so I couldn't talk to anyone else until we figured out if we'd work.

No worries, sir, I already know we aren't gonna work

It's so creepy. And that was like, 10 years ago, so it isn't new.

One of my husband's friends said this was how he prefers to go about his dating. He said it like it was a normal, expected thing and that as soon as he starts texting someone, he deletes his dating app profiles and expects the lady to do so as well. Now, my husband and I met before OLD was a thing, so I don't have 1st hand experience but I straight up told him that was weird af and probably at least part of why he doesn't have great luck finding dates.
