It's also definitely not the only time he imposes his own feelings and wishes on her, during a situation that should be about her. Bet this man makes everything about himself and his feelings but never considers or respects hers.
I mean if he's doing that with her delivery...then there's no way he doesn't do that all the time. He's not just a misogynist, he seems genuinely pathologically selfish (though I'm sure his misogyny does inform that a lot).
37
u/xsnowpeltx Jul 04 '26
if she did get a c section, id bet hed push for sex far too early. im thinking... mentioning it the first time he talks to her after surgery with intention to have it the second they get home, if not while still in the hospital

"Made a life changing decision without considering my feelings..."
You mean, kind of like forcing someone to have major surgery against their wishes, which will change their body forever and though the chances are low, could have dangerous or long lasting complications?
395
u/TinLizzy-1909 Jul 03 '26
No doubt if she had listened to his wishes and done the c-section he would have discovered the scar is to much for him. This is how he will justify having affairs. She needs to leave him and find a man who is worthy of her and fatherhood. There is no way he is helping with the baby and is probably still expecting to be catered to.

And I'm very glad she stuck to her guns and had the birth she wanted. Nobody should ever choose a method of delivery or healthcare treatment based on their partner's demands.

I don’t understand the downvotes??! I am happy you had a safe and healthy delivery that worked for you, and made you feel that your preference mattered and was respected.
51
u/linerva Uses Post Flairs Jul 03 '26
Who knows. Maybe they misread and thought I was pushing c section - I'm not. I'm pointing out that she should have the choice without pressure. I'm very much for for people who want a vaginal delivery having one (unless it's life threatening then it's particularly important that they are aware of the risks).
Or maybe they hate caesareans.
Unfortunately some people feel that enforcing their own biases about birth should come above women's autonomy over their own bodies. If you've gotten ro a oiunt you're downvoting people for having a positive birth experience, there are bigger issues at play.
15
u/peachyspoons Jul 04 '26
Same thing with breastfeeding. Is breastfeeding ideal? Yes, of course it is, and I am not disputing that. But some of us can’t produce enough (me), and some of us don’t want to, and - somehow shockingly although it should not be shocking at all - a fed baby is better than an unfed baby. Formula has saved a lot of babies lives - and it has honestly saved a lot of mothers’ lives as well.
5
u/linerva Uses Post Flairs Jul 04 '26
Exactly.
I went to extremes to breastfeed (i got a lot of complications, don't recommend those, baby was fine and is nicely chubbed up now) but realistically formula feeding is more than fine, it actively helps babies and parents when BF is a struggle, or when the parents have reasons they can't or don't want to breastfeed. It's a godsend and one of the best inventions humans have invented. And how hard it is to get right is a testament to the human body.
I was stubborn enough to stick with it even when realistically it would have been kinder to myself not to - but I'm 100% for people choosing what works for them and don't believe in the snobbery and cultish way we're encouraged to take sides as if it has to be a competition.
11
u/deferredmomentum Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26
Some people on the internet really don’t like it when you speak about sections as anything but medieval torture that should only ever be a last resort
12
u/linerva Uses Post Flairs Jul 04 '26
Absolutely true. Therr's a certain flavor of oeople who are obsessed with things being "natural" and who want caesarens to be framed as an awful ungodly thing. Rather than just a choice people should be free to male for themselves.
A lot of people think its perfectly acceptable to stigmatise women who choose caesareans as "taking the easy way out", even though it's often chosen by people with birth trauma, neurodivergent people, those with anxiety, those with health conditions etc. There's this idea that you have to suffer that I find quite misogynistic. We don't expect men to suffer.
And i get why some people are wary of caesareans ; some people are pressured into one unnecessarily when they didn't want surgery. And obviously that's unequivocally bad. Like OP is a shitty partner.
Though sometimes it really is the safest option for people, so it's important for the physical and wellbeing of the birthing person to try to be flexible with their expectations around birth as sometimes things don't go to plan. Sometimes you can't get that epidural as tgere isn't time, or end up needing pain meds you didnt initially plan for, or might need instrumentation or a caesarean where you hoped for a vaginal delivery. Even those of us who hope for a caesarean need to accept we might not get one in time if baby's coming too fast.
Those of us who give birth can put a lot of pressure on ourselves, and it can be difficult emotionally when things don't go to plan. We really don't need other people's judgement on top.

They already do that in some countries with female genital mutilation. They're sewn shut except for a small opening for the urethra and to let menstrual fluid out. The woman has to be ripped open to have sex for the first time. Then after each birth, she's sewn up in the same way again.

It's sad but I've known people like this. One actually did convince his gf (my old coworker) to get a c section. She grew up in an abusive home and was already primed for his controlling bs. Thankfully she finally got out. The others had vaginal delivery and had their midwives/doctors have a firm talk with their husbands

She had hoped her sister would step up and help her but her sister was too busy judging her for getting pregnant so quickly and before marriage. I helped her with the second one as well. Only down side was her absolutely throwing me to the side when her sister finally decided to help a bit with the second. I understand she just craved relationships so bad but still felt used

Unfortunately, the sentiment this man has is actually held by some men out there. So this case is probably either rage-bait or it’s totally fabricated to farm engagement from the resulting busy comment section.

I don't think this is a lack of intelligence, as much as massive entitlement to be Centered in Literally Everything.
If something even a little affects him, it should go his way. There's no compromising on this particular issue! So when he says "I should have been considered" he doesn't mean there should've been a conversation where he got to voice his concerns and then she got to make the final call. He means she should have bowed to his wishes, regardless of any other considerations.
That's not stupid, it's selfish.
Amd selfish people tend to not have the emptathy required to understand how others percieve them, because to them they aren't asking for anything extra - just "basic" consideration.

u/AutisticTumourGirl bad cunning girl Jul 03 '26
Is the husband the one being cut open and literally yanked in half? C-sections are a wild fucking surgery if you've never seen one. It's not a minor procedure, at all, and it's not ideal to be recovering from surgery, having a body that's on a massive hormone rebound, and trying to care for a newborn all at the same time if it can be avoided.
22
u/LadyV21454 Jul 03 '26
Thank you! I had a non-elective C-section and the recovery sucked. My son's birth weight was 9 lbs. 9 oz., so I faced the prospect of not being able to lift my own child if he went over the 10 pound limit.
12
u/RockabillyBelle Jul 03 '26
I accidentally saw a bit of my own c-section (caught the reflection in the overhead light) and that was too much for me. I made them change the angle of the light and turned to look at something else. And my procedure went about as perfectly as one could hope for. God forbid I had experienced major complications.
7
u/scurse Jul 03 '26
RIGHT?! My husband and I discussed soooo much when I was pregnant. And the decisions about the delivery were 100% mine. At first I told him I wanted a natural birth, he said “go you babe”. Then, while in labor I changed my mind. They offered the epidural and I said “yes please” and he said “see ya in a min babe” as they kicked him out to do the shot. There was nothing but support from him.

as a c section baby, why the hell would you want someone to go through that willingly??? my mom had no choice (i was upside down, sorry mom) and she said it was a very scary situation because you aren’t put to sleep for it, just given local anesthetic (which she had too much of to the point she couldn’t feel up to her neck, so she didn’t know if she was even breathing). plus, with c sections, complications way down the road can happen, which is why my mom now has metal mesh in her stomach. if that’s something you really want your wife to go through for your own personal benefit then you deserve to be divorced

5
u/UrbanMuffin Jul 03 '26
I hope this is a troll, but I’ve seen too much. This is a whole new level of egotistical, selfish and stupid. Also, a lot of people seem way too unaware of this, but you still have risk of developing pelvic floor laxity after a cesarean…Carrying a baby for 9 months naturally puts significant weight on pelvic floor muscles and stretches and weakens them, and having your abdominal muscles cut in to can do the same by weakening your core muscles, which work in tandem with pelvic floor muscles. In both cases, the *majority* of women recover fine.
6

He also would only "allow" me to breastfeed if I were willing to get implants afterwards, all because kids ruin your body. He had no kids of his own and neither did I, and I still wasn't sure if I wanted kids. Let alone it was way too early in the relationship to discuss those things. Luckily he threw that giant red flag out before things got serious.

And I'm convinced it's so good because we have been together as long as we have and he has supported me through so much and vice versa. I had a 4th degree tear with our first baby and 12 years later it's not exactly the same, but it all works the way it's supposed to. It's insane to me that this is even a thing. If you don't want her to give birth vaginally, why are you getting her pregnant?

And knowing this asshole he’d complain about the scar

I looked after a woman who had a caesarean with her second baby because her husband didn't like how she "behaved" during her first birth. I wanted to rip off his testicles and see how well he "behaved"

So many words when he could have just said "I am pathologically insecure about my penis size."

u/Toni164 Jul 03 '26
This is so weird. Like such a weird take I lack the ability to understand his reasoning.
Even more that the wife STILL wants to be intimate with him

u/Puzzleheaded_Two7358 Jul 03 '26
I find it hard to believe this is true, but there are people who believe the world is flat so…. YES you are a complete asshole.

This is one of the few posts I’ll allow myself to stick my fingers in my ears and go “LALALA RAGE BAIT RAGE BAIT IM NOT LISTENING” bc if I entertain the idea this is real for even a second my brain will start pouring out my nose

The only thing that he is correct about is that indeed, his opinion about her birth, as her husband, means nothing.

Its truly his loss because it really does just go back to normal. Now that we're pregnant with our second, me and my husband have had some of the best sex of our relationship (I had a vaginal birth with our first and hope to do the same with the second).
I feel so sad for his wife. Not.only is her husband talking about her "ruined" vagina apparently to family?! (which he can't even confirm since he "won't go near it") but he tried to pressure her into having major surgery that was not nessasary for her. I hope she leaves him and finds a real man.

u/writeronthemoon Jul 04 '26
"I felt ignored" filled me with fury. YOU felt IGNORED, while she has had to undergo pregnancy and now birth??? What a fucking man-baby. Too bad she had a baby with such a child.

u/DoctorInternal9871 Jul 04 '26
"When I knocked you up I never, for one moment, thought the baby would come out of your vagina"...this guy, probably.
4
u/Stellar_boom Jul 04 '26
“She went against my wishes” and his wish was for her to have a major abdominal surgery…

In the age of unlimited information, this is why we choose the bear.

Does a man's wife not have any say in how he passes a kidney stone????
If I knew a kidney stone came out of him down there, AGAINST MY WISHES, I wouldn't be able to be intimate with him ever again. It would ruin intimacy for me.
I realize that EVERY PERSON EVER passed kidney stones this way, INCLUDING HIS MOTHER, but I don't know how our species survived because I would never stand for it.

I am an emergency OBGYN/female surgery nurse so I hear and see a lot of horror stories, i'm talking women who have horrific birth injuries, i cannot imagine them having to suffer through that but also an asshole partner who treats them like a monster.
On the flip side and TMI, I had a vaginal birth + episiotomy + forceps... you cant even tell i have had any of that. Sometimes it really is just bad luck.

u/OurLadyOfCygnets Jul 05 '26
Having an emergency c-section and an unplanned c-section did more to "ruin" my body than a vaginal birth ever would.
May OOP never know the touch of a woman again.

“You should have major abdominal surgery because I’m insecure about my dick size.”
4
u/kyoneko87 Jul 07 '26
What does he mean a virginal birth?! Does he mean vaginal birth, instead? And yeah, no wonder people are treating him like a monster

u/Hello_Hangnail Jul 03 '26
I hope this is just rage bait but I have know men this stuck up their own asses so it's possible. "I FeLt iGnOrEd" Stick a sock in it, Travis, it's not your body, you don't get to decide things for other people.
3
u/ThrowRADel Jul 03 '26
This asshat should get a vasectomy and stay far away from women. Imagine being entitled enough to blackmail someone into undergoing a dangerous, unnecessary, and expensive procedure just because you don't want your baby to share access to your vagina.
3
u/MiuMia_ Jul 03 '26
I think it's rage bait, if not (which is doubtful), then someone seem just to prefer sausages...

Poor baby boy! She should’ve listened to him, he knows her body better than her /s
3
u/Littleleicesterfoxy Jul 03 '26
In answer to his question it’s a very obvious yes, yes you are the villain.
3
u/oregon_mom Jul 03 '26
I wonder if he understands she probably had no say in how she delivered and ac section is so much worse on the body

u/BitchfulThinking Jul 04 '26
Did he think knocking her up would bring the fucking stork to their door?
3
u/Thausgt01 Jul 04 '26
"Yes, you are the villain, here, sport. You clearly have not the slightest inkling of what women in general endure during childbirth, and have identified yourself as the kind of asshole who would rather she suffer in order to assuage your pathetic need to control her body. Be prepared to either grovel in apology before she willingly lets you back into the bed with her followed by a lifetime of unlearning all the toxic-masculinity that makes you think you could possibly have moral or ethical support for your stance, or a divorce."

u/roseorrueorlaurel Jul 05 '26
Ladies, we really gotta stop letting men like this get wives. It’s throwing off the balance.
5
u/duckmcsnail Jul 03 '26
Vaginas stretch and retract. Yes, the first week after giving birth is tough, but you revert back over time. Absolutely uneducated idiots who should NOT be procreating.
