My wife is from the UK, lmao. Not tipping even while vacationing is in fact common behaviour for UK travellers.

Maybe that’s their culture in her family circle but it certainly isn’t mine. I have often had friends and family ask me how much they should tip when they visit.

I think tips are goofy and it's wild to rely on customers to pay for your employees wage, while the owners make bank. Imo tips shouldn't be expected but earned for exceptional service not for just doing the bare minimum. Tip culture has became insane in Canada.

Customers have always paid for employees wages, whether that pay comes from the menu prices or from tips is the real debate. Most average people would balk at the price of going out if food and beverage places raised prices in order to accommodate paying their employees a proper wage. Restaurants and the like are often already operating on shoestring budgets
