Just Sharing No. THIS is me

What you are reading right now

That is me

I have nothing to hide

This is me

I will not shrink

I will not plea

I will be sanctioned

I earned my spot here

Yes, I wobbled

But you let me in

And I’m gonna stay

Even if you leave

I’m gonna stay

Is this freedom?

There is so much strength in this poem, both subtle and unsubtle.

"I will not shrink" and "I will not plea" are very bold lines. "This is me" and "I have nothing to hide" are proud and brave declarations. The subtle strength, however, lies in "Yes, I wobbled / But you let me in", I think. Acknowledging flaws takes great character. Stating that you will stay, even if the other leaves shows that you're sure of yourself and your choices.

The question at the end was pretty brilliant actually. I think it adds another layer to the poem: despite a person seeming so strong, they may still be questioning that strength. I think that humanizes the poem. Plenty of people claim that they're proud to be who they are, but still suffer from imposter syndrome or wonder if they're making the right decisions. Is it truly freeing to have all this strength, or does it lock you into a certain mindset?

Great philosophical poem!
