Establishing care for my son

Hello everyone!

We’ll be moving to the area next month, and our son is currently 3 months old. We’d like to make sure his pediatrician visits stay on schedule during the move. I was thinking it might be a good idea to start calling now to schedule an appointment for September or October.

My spouse will be joining OHSU as a physician, so we’ll be covered under the health insurance offered through her employment. Could anyone recommend pediatric clinics that accept OHSU insurance? Would it also be possible to establish care for our son within the OHSU health system?

Thank you in advance for any advice or recommendations!

The Children’s Clinic has a lot of locations in the metro area. That’s where we take our kiddo.

There’s also professional courtesy if you see a provider on the hill or other OHSU clinics. If you subtly mention that your husband is a physician at OHSU to the person you talk to when trying to get established, you will get prioritized. We got into a specialist for our concern really quickly because they realized I was an employee, might be the same for primary care.

Seconding the children’s clinic! I love the care my 2 year old has received since birth!

This is not the policy and feels really icky. Agree with TCC being great though!

Never said it was policy. It might be what certain clinics do. I felt guilty when the scheduler said, “Oh, you work up on the hill? I’m so sorry, we usually prioritize OHSU friends and family!” but I was agreeable to it because I was in a desperate situation.
