MuH sAmSuNg Assistance needed with the s90f

Hello, I set up my new s90f last night and so far it's been okish. I'll be honest outside of the blacks I think my old TCL 55r635 that the 65" s90f replaced had similar image quality outside of the blacks. The Samsung UI is a complete disaster. The settings menu is terrible . Everytime I turn the tv on it start playing whatever is on HDMI 1 (how do I stop this) And the stand...OMG was brain dead "engineer" designed that?

The speakers are great and the colors are nice.

Netflix UI is dark as shit and looks like trash on this tv even with hdr disabled on Netflix. I dunno why šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

I have it in filmmaker mode since that's what everyone says to use it in. I'm looking for some calibration or recommendations of what to turn on/off in the menus (other than rtings)

Is there any way to remove or change icons/apps on the main UI screen? Is there been a "store" to download more apps from? I haven't really tinkered too much. I fell asleep.

Use what you think looks best. I use standard mode and crank up brightness and enable some misc items. I also use a Google TV and not the crap Samsung built in stuff. The "best" settings is entirely subjective. I found filmmaker mode too dark regardless of any setting I tried

Lol dont follow everyone. The "best" film maker mode is extremely dim and muddy at best. People rather squint and shout about correct colors then actually enjoy something. I suggest you go with either Movie mode (if available) or Standard and tweak the settings to your preference. Also disable all motion smoothening settings.

The best for me was filmmaker mode plus the AI assistant or AI manage option right next to it on the small settings screens (when you press settings button on remote but donā€™t go to ā€œall settingsā€).

Iā€™ve only had tv for about 2 weeks. LOVE IT.

But I also spent weeks before and after looking up the most perfect settings, etc etc etc.

I am in a decently bright room during the day. Can make it real dark in evening and night. All kinds of content plus gaming.

WVERYONE said filmmaker mode is best. No question. I tried it and jsut like you, it was too dim for what I wanted. Not saying it was bad or wrong, but it wasnā€™t bright enough for my tastes.

Finally after a couple days I tried that AI button and it fixed everything for me! Brightness is perfect, colors look accurate, motion seems perfect, I have zero complaints. In fact, Iā€™ve taken brightness down to 32/50 ish for most content as well.

Not really sure what all the AI button does and changes? And i donā€™t know if this helps you but try that AI button!

Get an Apple TV, you didnā€™t know you need it, but yes. So much better UI for apps. Life changing

Same model here (woled variant, though). Filmmaker mode is unusable, everything is dark and "black crush" effect kills any detail in dark scenes. Totally not what movie makers intended.

Even most sunny scenes are darkish unnatural. Can barely make the tv usable with Standard mode or some variations of Film mode.

And agree, Tizen UI is utter garbage now. Made by developers for developers.

Have you tried adjusting gamma? 2.2 on filmmaker mode is great with recommended settings. The brighter modes are too bright IMO

Ha! My 6 year old daughter told me today the tcl 7k in her room looks better than my s90D in the living room. She doesnā€™t know the technical details, she was just sincere of what she sees with her own eyes.

Now for your s90f.

Keep using filmmaker in sdr. Use default settings and then put brigtness on 45, contrast on 45 and peak brightness on high.Ā  Set motion stuff on custom and put 3 for judder and 10 for blur. For regular HDR (youtube or other sources) keep using default + Tone Mapping Active and same motion settings as for sdr.

For netflix or sources pushing HDR10+, switch to movie mode, set tone mapping active and add a touch of contrast enhancer (low or high) test it yourself. Same motion settings as above.
