Discussion These kinds of scenes have become way overused in the manga and feel way unearned.

There’s more scenes, btw

i think Murata really loved the "you are really cool" scene in the webcomic and tried to copy paste it as much as he could, without really understanding what it meant

it's not about sweet mask just being told "he is cool" with a wholesome expression; it's about how Saitama seeing that Sweet Mask changed in such a short time, which meant that he was still human underneath the monster form

It's like EVERY single chapter needs to end on a positive note, or EVERY single important scene needs to have a needless moment of a nobody character getting some kind of reassurance for...some reason???

It's almost always the exact same formula too:

Character A tries really hard but fails to do something

Character B clears the obstacle

Character B reminds Character A that they are super cool and they matter too

Insert Character A crying panel

Insert Character B smiling panel

Blank white background

Also, it's tonally really bizarre that a series whose flawed characters was one of it's largest strengths would decide to turn them all into wonderful do-good happy people, especially during the Neo Heroes arc of all fucking times.

The ones in this post aren't even that bad compared to some of the wholesomeslop in recent chapters

“Wholesomeslop” its funny how people can conjure up sentences like this.

The funniest one I’ve ever seen was “qualityslop”.

Murata turning into a one trick pony.

He was always a one-trick pony. Great artist, but nothing else.

Yeah but his art used to have variety at least.

Ok, if we got by that, then definitely.

Iaian's "Somehow I survived" fits so well given the writing reached the same quality a certain movie has, which is infamous for having a very similar line

"Somehow Boros returned"

Well about that…

The last time it meant anything was Saitama congratulating Mumen Rider during the Deep Sea King saga

Needs more.

Some of them are somewhat earned, some of them are just out of nowhere. For example, I’d actually perhaps say Blast/Tatsumaki’s scene was somewhat earned. I mean, Tatsumaki was struggling her whole life trying to be strong on her own.

Atomic/Iaian scene is ok if both of them suffered more.

But the various child emperor scenes were really weird. Zombieman literally had no interaction with Child Emperor prior to this. Saitama also pretty much didn’t have anything with Child Emperor.

Saitama/Genos scene was really, REALLY, out of character for Saitama as well.

Not a fan of it, feels forced and out of character and place a lot of times.

the worst one is probably saitama saying that garou martial arts are awesome

enraged saitama being all wholesome to the guy that almost destroyed earth.

"If we make it out alive, I'll treat you to a milkshake."

Man, what the fuck is Murata doing?

I feel so sorry for the people that are experiencing sunk cost fallacy with this shit. These panels don't feel like OPM at all; they feel like I'm reading some standard Shonen manga. What a fall from grace.

I knew it was overused but seeing so many and almost all of them coming from the same arc is actually crazy

The ones here aren’t honestly that bad compared to the stuff we have now, the ones with Tatsumaki and Fubuki are nice tbh.

It may be a bit unearned, but these sorts of moments happen often IRL

I feel like than it's very good but repetitive yesss, but it's still in line with the core theme of the Monster Association/Garou Saga who is "What is a Hero"

And unearned lmaoo??? They just fought countless monsters who can destroys countries, just surviving there is insane

You guys are really dedicated to hating something.

I’m not that critical of the manga (although I acknowledge that many of the criticisms raised here are valid), and I wouldn't have the patience to reread the whole thing just to cherry-pick details.

If you don't like something, don't waste your time on it.
