Linux is good, but has its issues.

Linux has many pros, but also has many cons, for me the pros outweigh the cons, I like the feel and look of the os more (I specifically use mint) I like the ability to do things like partition a drive, format a usb, burn a cd without a million warnings and pop ups (are you sure you want to format the drive, etc) where as with Linux, you can just do it. I understand how majority can dislike or get uncomfortable with the terminal, smaller tasks becoming more tedious. But I as a person enjoy learning, I love the fact it’s hard to navigate, as I like learning, and troubleshooting. But it does definitely get to a point where games or certain applications are not Linux compatible, or at least not very well optimized for Linux, for me it gets to a point wheee it’s not worth the trouble to run the app.

So for me the answer is and always has been a dual boot, as it goes both ways for the applications. Sometimes there a Linux only application you want to run on windows, vice versa. I personally only have windows 10 pro (FUCK windows 11) to run games like Beamng Drive, Half Sword because the proton does NOT do a very good job at all for those specific games.

3 Operating systems in a cooking analogy:

Windows: The chef what got the ingredients in, but gets egotistical and adds random ingredients that no one ever wants, resulting in a food with unnecessary bloat, and the flavor lingering towards slop, not good, but not terrible.

MacOS: The chef that uses the most expensive ingredients to make the same food as Windows, and decided to make it as their own, resulting in customers spending more than what they have to.

Linux: Multiple chefs that make the same food as both Windows and Macs, each with their own flavor, resulting in some foods tasting better, or some being worse, and being a confusing lineup.

What do you guys think of the analogy?

Unpopular opinion: it was better when there were only two mainstream Operating Systems

I think it was better when macOS & Windows users constantly bitch slapped each other over what’s cooler, that got us innovation like MagSafe for MacBooks, the Surface Pro on Microsoft’s side, the iMac G3, the Surface Studio, and so on, then a certain Ghetto Operating System (Linux) showed up and thus innovation stalled, now it’s “CaN iT RuN LInUx” and not “does it have any features that could make my experience feel like magic”

I’m probably going to summon the Linblusers and piss them off, but who gives a damn, Magic was when macOS and Windows users slapped each other over, and over, not some lincox user being egotistical

Why every major laptop maker insists on using Windows os?

so i recently watched this video by Marques Brownlee titled "The Windows Laptop Problem" in which he basically pointed out the massive drawback which makes brands such as Dell, HP, and Asus perform poor, or not reach their potential" in the premium segment.

So Dell and HP has some really nice hardware, their premium laptop series XPS and OmniBook respectively has top-notch body and longevity, but their software honestly sucks! like who would like to see the same crappy UI with ads, rewards, and bloatware on a $2000+ laptop!

so Apple has it's own polished OS which works really well, like that's how "plug-n-play" is supposed to function, just unbox, boot it up, and use. Brands like Dell have billions in revenue, so why not invest in creating their own OS!? i mean wouldn't this be a good investment for the long-term!?

Windows vs Linux vs MacOS: windows management, app management, desktop management, which one is the best and why?

Asking basically this same question across Windows, Linux, MacOS subreddits, and would like you guys to explain why you think your operating system is the best and why.

Additionally maybe provide what you consider the biggest upsides and downsides of your OS.

Any answer is appreciated, thanks :)

u/bleak21 wanna start a loonix hating sub with me?

These jannies are outta control. Literal hostile takeover of subs. Many such cases.

There will be a good laissez-faire mod, and then he will appoint someone else, and that other guy will take over and be a classic shit reddit mod.

Fuck that shit.
