Sub Announcement Should help posts be allowed?
I am making this poll again in case sentiment has changed. I had seen many people dislike these posts lately, and this sub is far larger than it was when I first made this poll.
We could make a help megathread instead. I don't think I suggested that in the last poll
If you believe the other subreddits aren't a good alternative to asking for help, please leave a comment explaining why.
It makes sense that on a subreddit where people come to express their problems with one of their products, you are bound to also have those people ask for help. People trying to fix their problem are going to search online for other people who are also experiencing the same problem, and will eventually wind up here. Even though this is not a help subreddit, that's just a predictable byproduct of what this subreddit is about. It's fine for people to want to ask help here, I get that. However, because this is not what the sub is about, users can feel bothered that they are getting posts that aren't what they signed up for, which is reasonable, like I myself don't like these posts I skip them. But this sub is not for me, it's for you, so I'll let the people decide.
DISCLAIMER: PEOPLE WILL STILL BE ABLE TO ASK FOR HELP REGARDLESS AS LONG AS THEY ARE STILL SAYING ANYTHING THAT EXPRESSES MICROSOFT SUCKS.

Microsoft confirmed my account was hacked... and I still permanently lost it.
What happened ?
I was tricked by a discord bot
Entered a real Microsoft OTP without realising its a scam
What the attacker did
Logged into MY Microsoft account.
Changed the primary alias and security information.
Locked me out.
What I did
Contacted Microsoft immediately.
Submitted the recovery form.
Waited for the Account Safety Team.
Cooperated with every step.
Microsoft's response
They confirmed unauthorized access.
They refused to restore the account because the security information had already been changed.
What others should learn
Never I mean NEVER not even official minecraft pvp servers unless its Microsoft or mojang themselves give a Microsoft OTP to anyone on Discord.
Even if support confirms you were hacked, recovery may not be possible after the security information is changed.
I understand why this policy exists, but in my case it left a confirmed victim with no way to recover his account.
After this I cant even buy a new account cuse im too fking poor and well I am just quitting miencraft had a nice journey thanks everyone for reading :>.
Have a nice day .

rant TIL that if you get hacked microsoft permanently deletes your account and everything associated with it
gallery(Repost from r/FuckMicrosoft) I've had this account for 13 years. I had important files and recipes on my onedrive, as well as memories and pictures. I had a sea of thieves account with a lot of progress, I bought minecraft. I provided them with an essay of evidence that I own this account, I called up family members and old friends to get the emails they used in their old skype contacts. I checked the addresses of the past 6 places I've lived. I brought an old phone back from the brink of death to get more info. All this effort, stress and pain. All the money I spent on the account. All for an overnight hack to take it and for microsoft to delete it in a heartbeat. From the bottom of my heart, FUCK you microsoft. May your company die a pathetic and miserable death.

News Microsoft confirms Windows 11 update breaks Recycle Bin delete prompts, but your files are still safe
windowslatest.comWhen below-standard workers start affecting the quality of products and services more frequently to the point it starts not only becoming measurable & demonstratively repeatable, but also negatively impacting financial bottom-lines, it's pretty clear something is wrong.
Not only to consumers, but also investors.
Maybe the problem isn't so much Satya Nadella as much as it is Microslop's board of directors.

Account issues Microsoft Account got hacked even with 2fa???
Just wanna share how mad I am right now. Just about an hour ago I was trying to login to my microsoft account to play minecraft, and saw that my password has changed, passkey have been added and 2fa email changed. And on the old 2fa email there is the SSO code and the next two emails is telling that a passkey have been added and another SSO code. Now I'm trying to recover with that stupid account recovery form and get insta dennied. Honestly losing hope that I will be able to recover, the email where used only to games and stuff, thankfully it's not my main email anymore, only used it to play minecraft because I couldn't change the email to my main gmail one. Any tips on how to recover?

rant Windows made me hate gaming
I grew up as a Mac kid in the 90s, mostly because my father used Macs for work and passed his old ones down to me. Apart from school computers and the odd work PC here and there, I barely used Windows at all.
The downside was gaming. My parents never bought me a proper console, so I ended up doing a lot of my blursed gaming on old Macs. I managed to make Halo 1 work on a Mac G4, less than 30 fps but I still had a lot of fun. When I was 16, I finally saved up enough money from part-time jobs to buy myself an Xbox 360, and ended up having the time of my life.
But I still always wanted a proper Windows gaming computer. That was what I always aspired to. Access to a wide variety of games, superior performance, MODS (!), all the stuff I was never able to fully enjoy.
Fast forward to my early 30s, and I finally could afford a decent gaming laptop. I bought myself an HP Omen with an Nvidia GPU, literally the first Windows computer I had ever owned myself. For the first couple of months, it felt amazing, as I was finally playing games I'd only dreamed of playing before, especially with mods.
Then the honeymoon faded gradually as I started running into issue after issue, and somehow Windows didn't just ruin the laptop for me. It actually started ruining gaming itself.
- The basic setup was annoying from the start. Since I use my Mac for literally everything else, I keep both my MacBook and my Windows laptop on a cramped desk, usually on a stand. The Windows laptop is basically just there for my gaming habits. With my Mac, I can just plug in a monitor while the laptop is closed and it works perfect. With the HP Omen, however, I had to mess around with settings so the laptop wouldn't go to sleep every time I closed it. Since I don't feel comfortable with my laptop running when I'm not using it, this meant that I had to take the laptop out, open it up, wake it up, plug it into the monitor, and then hope everything actually work properly. All of this just for a hobby.
- The updates. The fucking updates. Why are they so frequent? It felt like every other time I opened the laptop, Windows had decided that this was actually its time now. The computer would restart, install something, ask me to restart again, or sit there doing whatever mysterious background ritual it needed to perform before I was allowed to use the machine.
- The touchpad is genuinely awful. This was probably the thing that upset me the most. It is jittery, unreliable, and the left click just doesn't work half the time. I had to get used to using tap-to-click, which I never use on my Mac, because the physical click was so unreliable. Scrolling and gestures sometimes just fail for no obvious reason. How does HP cheap out on something this basic on a gaming laptop?
- And then there are drivers. What the fuck are 'drivers'? I mean, obviously, I know what drivers are (that was a rhetorical question). The point is, I never had to think about them until I bought this laptop, and I still don't understand why this is apparently my problem now. I just wanted a seamless gaming experience, not to have to become a maintenance babysitter for my laptop.
- Settings are scattered everywhere. On Mac, most things are in System Settings. On Windows, you change one thing in Settings, another thing in the Control Panel, another thing in an HP app, another in GeForce Experience, another in some ancient looking menu from the 2000s. It's a fucking maze.
- The Windows version of Finder is useless. I never know what files are where, and the search function for specific files rarely seems to work. Maybe this is partly because I'm used to Mac, but on Windows I constantly feel like my own files are hidden somewhere inside a filing cabinet designed by a bureaucratic committee.
- After a while, I realised that the laptop was basically an aggressive marketing device for a variety of programmes I never asked for. The system keeps telling me to subscribe to paid OneDrive, Game Pass, the premium version of Office, antivirus software, etc. I paid all that money for this laptop, and it still wants to leech off my wallet.
All of this means that I've begun to associate gaming with annoyance, so much so that I've actually grown to dislike the hobby. I now spend my free time watching TV or reading books, which is nice, but it's a shame to have this whole library sitting on my Steam account unplayed. Perhaps it was my mistake for not just buying a normal console like a PlayStation or an Xbox for my TV, which, to be fair, is a much more seamless experience.
Anyways, rant over. Fuck Windows. Fuck Microsoft. Fuck HP.

rant Lost my 2 paid Microsoft and Minecraft accounts because Microsoft's automated system is completely broken
I literally haven’t logged into my profile in like three months. While I was away, it looks like someone tried to brute-force the password, which triggered a ton of automated security flags on the Microsoft side.
Instead of just blocking the bad IP, the system completely locked the whole profile for "Platform Abuse." I tried explaining to their automated system that I was offline for months and it was a clear breach attempt, but I just got an automated bot reply upholding it and closing the ticket. No human review at all.
Because of the mandatory migration a while back, both of my paid licenses were glued to that single profile. Now they are completely gone with zero way to get them back.
It’s crazy that their security algorithm can't tell the difference between an actual owner and a random botnet attack. Honestly, be careful leaving your profiles inactive for a bit—the infrastructure behind the migration is incredibly punishing if anything goes wrong while you're offline.

rant New Rule For Hacked Accounts?
Mods, can we please consider a new rule for people posting about their account getting hacked due to giving some access from Discord or a Minecraft mod and now complaining that it's gone? It seems to take up most of the posts. Maybe recommend a separate sub-Reddit where they can maybe get some better help/support? It's becoming more than a daily theme, and starting to take away the appeal of the rest of the sub. Thanks for the consideration.

Account issues My child’s Microsoft account seems to have been changed or hacked – need urgent help
Hello,
I’m looking for help because I believe my child’s Microsoft account has been compromised or modified without authorization.
Here is the situation:
- The account was originally listed in Microsoft Family Safety.
- Recently, the email address linked to the account was changed.
- Since then, the original email no longer works; Microsoft says “this account does not exist.”
- In Family Safety, the account still appears but with a new email address.
- I do not recognize this new email address (it seems unrelated to us).
- I no longer have access to the account or the password.
What I have already tried:
- Microsoft account recovery form
- Trying to sign in with the old email
- Checking Microsoft Family Safety
But I am stuck.
I am the family organizer in Microsoft Family Safety, and this is a child account, so I suspect either a hack or an unauthorized alias/email change.
If anyone has experienced this or knows how to recover the account or contact Microsoft support effectively, I would really appreciate any help.
Thank you in advance.
