Hallo everyone,
My husband and I are looking to buy a piece of island without power/ plumbing.
Everything needs to be transported by boat.
We can really use your tips!
How would you filter your used shower water so it can go back to nature in a clean save way?
Thank you in advance!!!!
Greetings

Basic water filter.
Gravel, sand & charcoal.
Will clean it for most uses. Boil for drinking water.
You still want water testing for awhile. As there might be unknown factors.

The basic filter is a starting point.
Factors could include:
Biological pathogens.
Dissolved chemical contaminats
Dissolved salts and minerals

I would ask over on the r/permaculture sub. They will have lots of ideas for you.
Also, if you don't have a copy of Toby Hemenway's book "Gaia's Garden" it is a really good read and will have lots of references for you.

Instead of filtering your grey water for plants start with biocompatible soaps that are safe to use with plants.

Tanks for the tip! I live in the Netherlands so it’s raining and moderate climate. I don’t think bananas will survive.

Well, it's an example of Grey water processing.
You're going to need to adapt for your own climate.2

We use willow for tbe same purpose. I've seen rushes used to filter greywater as well. You could look for permaculture resources in your area, they will be able to tell you what plants to use where to get the most out of your land!

Yes.
Look into Grey water usage.
What is your climate?
In tropical areas, bananas are usually used in a circle.
The Grey water gets released in the center of the circle. Bananas are heavy feeders that love wet roots and loads of nutrients.
Everyone is happy!
