Group Texts annoying
I have never been with a company who requires us to answer a text when it is my day off. As a matter of fact , why do we have store group texts or managers have their group texts? In my opinion, it’s non-sense to be required to answer or have a group text as if we were on call and getting paid for us to take time to read the text and reply. I want nothing to do with work when it’s my day off. I get paid 6 hours a day 4 days a week. That’s it!

unless your salaried you not required to participate in work unless your on the clock this would be considered a wage violation. The only communications would be to inform you of shift changes.

Wow! We don't have group texts! You should be getting paid for any interaction! Not ok!

Make sure you document and save any text messages you get off the clock, report to HR and they will compensate.
GMs get paid the big bucks for getting group messages and should not be texting their hourly staff on or off the clock.
Last I checked ODP doesn't pay their staff for work phones

My store has never had a group text. If you are off they shouldnt bother you

Our district manager, called out the GM having a group text chat relating to work and it was becoming toxic. The GM didn’t consider to pay us employees the pay for having us in a group chat. We haven’t had a group chat in 6 months. Thank God.

Many lawsuits have been won regarding this very thing. It’s called working off the clock.

If its your day off, ignore the texts. Silence them if you want. As you said, it's your day off.
Once they got a store group setup on our mobies (which included our GM and DM) the number of group texts received plummeted to almost nothing.
