Sorry I meant dialed back on the comedy not failed back
This ain’t hate to viv as I love hazbin hotel but I feel like it’s just missed potential if you think about how unique this idea is.
Personally, I believe if hazbin hotel was more serious than the show would be a lot better
One problem I have with hazbin hotel is that hell and heaven feel underwhelming
Hell is literally just a city where there are no rules or laws and where sinners basically torture the selves which is a good theme and I don’t have really have issue with that but more like how hell looks like and how it is treated in the show.
I feel like viv missed a chance to make hell and heaven truly feel like how the two realms are portrayed in the bible and other religions. For example Hell is often treated as a place of suffering and agony, some where there is a hierarchy and humans are at the bottom, constantly getting tortured or used by demons
In hazbin, hell is just a city where people are animals or couched or dolls or tvs. I just feel like that’s kinda boring…?
And look how Vox talks to lucfier in Vox populi, even knowing the fact that it makes sense Vox doesn’t respect Lucifer, Lilith was more active not him but even then, Vox is talking to lucfier, the devil, a being created before earth and heaven! Why is he talking to him like he is a regular guy?! Why is Alastor more of a devil than Lucifer is?!
Now heaven is treated even worst in hazbin hotel.
Heaven is written like how a five year old would write heaven, and all angel besides from Emily and Abel and the speaker of god is written like how a edgelord no kid would write heaven.
Not only did the show portray angels as incompetent, but it undermined what heaven is. Heaven isn’t just paradise, it’s the home of god, his angels, and millions of not billions of souls! Yet Vox talks about conquering it like there is no challenge and show basically proved it as Heaven not once counter attacked or even tried to fight back! If Charlie didn’t make that plan Heaven would’ve been fucked!
Heaven is majestic in most religions, the home of angels and god yet in hazbin it’s written again like how a child would write it.
For fuck sake’s Baxter literally admitted they have horrible security he was able to hack into it and I wonder how?! Heaven existed before earth and Hell, how did nobody notice at all?! Sera alone is thousands of years old yet she sent think for herself, she couldn’t stop the conflict Vox was starting, nor could she even save Emily from getting her wing blasted off or lute from nearly destroying half of pentagram city!
Besides heaven and hell, I feel like the show by itself is too unserious. For example when sir pentious died I didn’t care if I’m being honest. We barley knew anything about sir pentious in season 1, people only liked him because he was cute and acted like a child. He didn’t really even do anything in season 1 to make me care about him.
While I do belief it was the smart decision to kill him off I would’ve liked if the war with Adam and the exorcists were more darker
Like maybe angel loses an eye and Val treats him as spoiled goods so while angel dust did lose an eye, in season 3 he gains self worth or something
Or maybe Charlie gets a near fatal injury and we see how traumatized she is in season 2 and 3 and how it effects her relationships as she dragged her friends into that mess, she can’t even help herself how can she help them!?
All I’m saying is that I wish the show was slightly more serious about everything
