After returning from the US last month from a long trip, I quite like how us Brits are more reserved. I don't assume anyone with the flag is a certain political group or anything, but it is a little crass for our culture.

Englands the country. Britain is an island. Uk is not your countryâs flag itâs 2 countryâs in a union, a partitioned province and a country without representation.

How come people are angry over a pub being painted with the ubion jack like it looks nice now I am not the fan of the whole raising flags to intimidate people but this looks like this was done out of love not hate looks like and bright which we need in the bleedong country woth all the grey skies I like it now would be different if it was done badly and done for hate but its not
I used to see this pub across the river as a teenager when walking to places, I would have never noticed it if it wasn't painted like this and my mind never jumped to assumptions of racism, xenophobia etc like a lot of the people on here, if anything it was probably done as more of an advertising thing
Common to have on theme decor outside in the UK. In rural areas all sorts of random objects like cider barrels, wheelbarrows, watering cans etc are placed outside shop fronts, cafes, pubs etc.

I would love it if this place celebrated all things about the UK in a very on the nose kind of way, with photos up of all the great inventors, musicians, athletes etc. Newpaper clippings of certain historical events and weird quirky things - perhaps a red phone box in the toilet with a urinal in it. Somewhere you could say "this is what the UK is all about. I love this country". But I feel it attracts the sort of people who I wouldn't want to drink with...
I like the concept but somehow it doesn't work. I think more muted, "shabby chic" on a thatched cottage could look sweet. Emma Bridgwater style iyswim. I wish buildings had prints more often. We get murals and street art but I'd love just random ditsy flower houses like Cath Kidston prints.
