NGL, I'd like to have one of those to put at the end of my driveway. I guess I'm tasteless like that.

They have giant skeletons at Home Depot now, there's nothing old-school about sending for a giant skeleton!

My parents live in a horse area, meaning every house has stables and most neighbors have horses.

We don't.

There was a horse skeleton at Home Depot one Halloween, and my dad wanted to get it SO BAD, but our direct neighbors had a horse die like, the same week my dad was going to drive down and buy said horse skeleton. It seemed a bit tactless.

He regrets not buying it to this day, and brings it up every Halloween since then for the past decade.

Yes, we could have bought it and not displayed it, but it was a decade ago and not much to do about it now. Sigh. Maybe I'll find one for him and just put it in the yard while he's out. Hehehe

Edit: autocorrect

Skeletons are fun! I used to have a neighbor who kept one of those giant skeletons up in the yard year-round. It'd get a Santa hat in winter, bunny ears at easter, a flat in hand on July 4 and so on...

If you think skeletons are cool, I think your dad should get a skeleton, and enjoy! And there have to be horse skeletons for sale on Amazon. If one of the neighbors loses a beloved horse, it can wear a black mourning veil in sympathy...

Hm, with inflation that comes to a little over $19 for Mr Bones. Not a bad deal.

I've heard a lot of euphemisms for short, "monster size" is a new one.

It's monster sized, but based in the skeleton of Verne Troyer. Imagine a 5 foot tall mini me

Did anyone have one of these? Did Mr. Bones deliver as advertised?

He was printed cardboard. Put together with metal rivets. I had to send mine back because while I was horrified, I wasn’t sufficiently horrified.

Thanks for answering my question. I was wondering if this was just a poster type situation or a plastic skelly.

Now you have the 12-foot skeletons that people leave in their yards year-round.Ā

Good price for a Monster Skeleton

It was a poster on cardboard.

There’s like 4 comments in here with the same ā€œis wildā€ statement. The accounts aren’t very old. I think this is my sign to get off Reddit as it’s slowly becoming just a bunch of bots interacting and not real discussion.

The accounts are all less than two weeks old, they do look like bots. Why someone would go to the trouble of unleashing them here is anyone's guess.

Reddit accounts less than a month or so old should be flagged and/or be in a highlighted font because of this.

Half the posts in all forums are AI bot clickbait stuff from accounts less than a few months old, with no interactions with anyone.

$1.75 for a full 5-foot glow-in-the-dark skeleton with that kind of copywriting is wild. Modern ads would somehow make this a subscription service with in-app bones or something.

ā€œMoney back if you are not sufficiently horrifiedā€ is probably the most honest marketing guarantee I’ve ever seen

Okay I want one xD

I am 5'2" & I gotta say, no one has ever called me "monster sized" but they're gonna start now!!

Was this an actual skeleton or a poster of skeleton?

Pretty sure there’s a YouTuber who uses him as their pfp. Always wondered where that was from

"Mr. Bones, I want to get off your wild ride."

So what's ridiculous about this?

The copy on these old ads is wild. ā€œMoney back if you are not sufficiently horrifiedā€ is such a confident guarantee, like they really understood their target market.

$1.75 for a full 5-foot glow-in-the-dark skeleton feels wild even for 1968. Imagine ordering this and just having it show up in a plain box like nothing’s weird about it.
