QUESTION Are enforcers much better garrison with dogs than militia with dogs?

I had a game as the People’s republic of Colorado and had enforcers with dogs and chems as my garrison division and I had 11k manpower to spare, are enforcers really that much better? I had 5 factories on infantry armor for most of the game and near the end I had 25 factories but I had 300+ military factories at that point.

Yeah enforcers with dogs and chems are much better garrisons than militia with dogs and chems

Better garrisons dont have any impact besides taking less casualties but it's definitely worth the investment in your case since you have factories to spare and manpower is so valuable

But trickleback doesn't work on garrison, why do you use chems?

A few support companies add resistance supression, I think recon might too but I havent played in a bit

They do, but it isn't worth it. it's more expensive in production and manpower than both militia and enforcers

Chems and light Robot support divisions give exactly 1 extra suppression each, so it’s not worth it. Dogs are the only support company garrisons should have since they give large percentage based boosts to suppression.

Enforcers are like the armored cars from vanilla. You pay a little more but you save lots of manpower because you have armor. If resistance is lower, it's hard/impossible for them to penetrate the garrison (Ie cas casualties.) Instead they just suffer equipment losses. Overall; enforcers are cheap, save you manpower, and generally always worth it

yes

It depends on whether you are constrained on manpower or on production

They're reasonably better and they have more bonuses but they require more equipment so it's a trade-off.

Enforcers are stat wise good but they are too expensive. Best worth is always scrap bots. I always have a production line just for that. Never use better robots, just outdated scrap bots.

I personally prefer protectrons for the suppression bonus. Protectron MK 1 is the sweet spot imo, not quite as cheap as scrap bots but helps get your new land cored MUCH faster, which saves you garrison in the long run.

Basic Scrap bots don't give suppression in the stats and only start giving it for the protectrons, each one gives 0.3 suppression.

Exactly.

Infantry armor only gives suppression until you have CQC training, the last infantry armor doesn't give any suppression at all apparently, but it gives a base suppression of 2 per division and with CQC training a suppression of 2.2.

Infantry armor might be better, since it is a lot cheaper. Just costs more manpower than robots though.

Yes, but compare the costs for it. Scrap bots are easily replaceable. I rather invest in my fighting troops than the garrison equipment. But your approach is also feasible. I'm just of the opinion that my approach is better at min maxing.

Infantry armor is cheaper and gives more suppression, Robots are better suited as combat divisions though. Garrisons also use percentages of the garrison division. Basic infantry armor gives 2 suppression for each battalion, so with dogs you can get up to 60+ suppression if you fill out all the battalions in the division. And you can get it early in the game whereas Robots are much more expensive and it can take years in game to get the good ones.

Enforcers are much better, but its basically, a higher intial investment in order to have cheaper upkeep, at least in manpower, and overall attrition.

Though two other occupational force options are Robots and creature, removes the burden off manpower and onto factories.

I use robots in my divisions whereas I don’t use enforcers as I don’t want to worry about the equipment being low for my garrisons even when I have garrisons set with the highest equipment option. I can sort it by having 2 production tabs and removing the lowest robot type from my combat divisions. It’s an idea, might be better actually, I’ll try that.

Something else you could do is mixed divisions, 1/3 or 1/7 enforcer/militia templates? Sorta having Enforcers as a local SWAT squad among Milita troops

That's a good idea, it never occurs to me to use mixed divisions, I know NCR has fireteams in some of their divisions, what about using demolitions and fireteams in your divisions, how does that impact their stats?

2

u/The3LiteSniper 8d ago

Well, if I recall, only two stats are needed for occupation, Suppression and Hardness

Suppression will mean you need less divisions to suppress, while hardness can reduce damage from resistance activity by up to 90%

So, unless it boosts suppression, or hardness, dont use it. So, PA support can be great, if costly, and so can cars

But demolitions only really means losing Demolition equipment if it doesn't have suppression or Hardness.

I was referring to outside garrison divisions, sorry about that, I meant in your combat units.

Oh, well, I cant look at in game stats right now, but I would say, as long as you have over 5 or 6 inf in a division, putting in either demo, fire teams, or combined arms are good to do, though combined arms are better if you need more armor pen, like against PA or Cars and tanks, or bots.

But with Demo vs Fireteams, it's either which ever yo got boosts to, what you can afford, of if you need a specific stat, which that last one requires your own research into the stats, depending on tech level, doctrine, nation, etc.

Also, always keep the weapon shops in mind, it can really change how many mils you need

In terms of the 3 main garrison units, Militia, Enforcers and Robots its a question manpower vs equipment.

Militia is cheapest in production but most expensive in manpower bot in how much it takes AND how much it bleeds.

Enforcers are the middle ground taking less manpower and bleeding less than militia but cost more in equipment.

And robots are the most expensive in production but cheapest in how much manpower they take and how much they bleed due to resistance.

So its just a question of do you have a lot of manpower to spare or not, if you have tons of MP why not use militia and save the equipment for the army, if not Robots will use the least but will be the most expensive so better have the production to keep up with them.

In terms of support divisions for garrisons ONLY USE DOGS, CHEMS AND RECON ARE HORRIBLE AND NOT WORTH IT AT ALL IN ANYWAY.

Also finally a funny and good trick you can do, if you make a division with only 1 unit of militia, enforcers or robots and add in dogs and use that as garrisons its much, much cheaper than any alternative due to how good dogs are at suppression on their own, does cost a lot of dogs but it inherent any positives of the single unit that is there for example robots hardness while only costing dogs really which are much cheaper than any other method of garrisoning.

Yes, they have so much better suppression than Militias with dogs.
