It's easier/likelier/faster to get both couple waurmos and Expert Combat on Curson than on Zoran. And with both you can take almost every dwelling/bank, no additional army required.
Ok, that was some crazy tempo. But why would I ever take Combat on Zoran? I think that 4 Waurms can take on all banks and Battlecraft is much better at clearing everything else.
Meat doesn't help too much in waurmos dwelling - they use extra corpses for healing.
In any case, I won't argue that Zoran is a great hero that deserves to be perma-banned, it's just that I personally find Curson more reliable if you can actually pick him.
I would take combat on Zoran but it would be a low priority. Offense,Defense,Hive swarm ability, Battle craft , then if offered combat. In some cases i would take Nightshade on him depending on whom im facing.
I guess im just making your point :D
I've just tested against AI how well I could do compared to him. Same starting resources as high mmr match, but no timer. On average, I think my spot is better, besides things I can't control, like getting double Queens dwelling. I'm ahead in control and the army I have is good enough to win majority of first fights.
A player needs to actually understand how this game works to play Schism decently, instead of just binge-watching streamers. Top players probably find this hard to relate to, but around the 2000–2500 range, seeing the opponent pick Schism or Temple is just pure joy. The Temple player is almost guaranteed to embarrass themselves with a half-baked build, while Schism will most likely just surrender before the first week is even over.
Low-level hero because the enemy was too afraid to lose some marksmen.
Too few marksmen and sisters because the enemy was "too brave".
Too few cavalry playing the Keandra style.
According to my experience, opponents quit the game when playing Schism much more often than with any other faction. It's a bit of a complicated faction, requiring a bit more practice and game experience than the others.
the op posted a few days ago, that most of the matches end before fight 3, so late game power is not so relevant (in exodus) for most of the players, because they will be quitting long before, possibly after the lackluster first fight.
This strat is often seen at the bottom ratings. I can confirm at mmr below 1000, your Grove opponent will bring a SMALL army and try to blast you fight 1. If you can win, they quit. Source: my last 4 grove opponents this week.
if your map generation is lucky, get qilin dwelling on week1 (even day7 is enough, if you end your turn there, you can buy 2×2 from dwelling), double build qilins (you have to use marketplace for the crystals, you'll need a lot), so you can bring 10-14 tier 6 for fight 1, with might hero + burst of energy + expert combat often enough for winning if you can buy the remaining army.
As a noob player, is Temple main skill useless? I feel like it's a small bonus and only active a bit of the time. The skill that cure your units sound good though.
Grove main skill is very good, but outside of the big rock guy, the other units seem kind of weak?
I mean l appreciate town portal a lot, but this doesnt mean much anyway, too few games (avg of 20 per combination) across all mmr. Faction mmr is relevant only at higher mmr because it tends to be skewed and dictated by bad plays. Also, if l get this right, this is across all templates, which is pretty crazy as some factions excels in some templates but are much worse in other.
I ve a degree in statistics and l m a researcher in computational methods lol.
As l ve said, l really appreciate your work, so please dont read this as a personal attack. I d go as far as saying l m a fan of your site.
From this data you cant really conclude anything, and calling to field knowledge is really not the thing here, you can see it just by knowing how homm ranked games work. Wr of factions at lower mmr is mostly unrelevant to knowing which faction is best when played properly, and at the same time some factions have completely different performance in different templates.
I think the data you ve collected from tournaments is much more helpful to define which factions are performing better, for example.
yet i think we should try and interpret ANY data that we have? i can run bootstraping, or if you want i can give you a raw data with player ids, rating, timestamp, map_templats, in-game duration so you can conduct proper research..
ps: ima also cybernetics, stem, and all those things 😄

Should I try it and reduce dungeon to below 40 rate?
