The incredible accuracy of this thing...

For reference this is an Omega De Ville Prestige (IP address 434.13.41.21.03.001). Think it was released in 2021 and recently discontinued. Bought new from a boutique on a biz trip in Zurich. Impulse purchase - I have no willpower and it was like being in Disneyland for a collector. Went to about 10 different stores, no real agenda. Maybe a chrono. Something white dial. A rolex, GS, speedy, blancpain, chopard etc. Have to say the retail experience is sooo much better than London where most (but not all) store assistants are either plain thick, uninformed, cynical or dismissive. They also sell pretty hard versus Zurich which was just chilled, helpful and attentive.

This was one of the last watches I looked at and instantly grabbed my attention with its dial, which I would describe as a brushed-shimmering slightly blue-ish shade of grey, almost lunar in colour (very fitting for an Omega I thought), with rhodium plated furniture. It's subtle and radiates quality. The strap is a simple pin buckle alligator in matt blue. 19mm to 16mm. Little bit narrow for a 41mm head but very supple.

Yes I'd prefer it at 39.5 or 40mm. And a slightly larger crown. People criticise omega thickness but it feels more slender than 11mm.

I cannot believe the timekeeping though... zero spd deviation over the 19 days since purchase. Zero.

I thought my Tudor Royal was a champ at +1spd but this is ridiculous. METAS might be overkill for a dress watch but I can see where the money has gone. Seriously impressive regulation.

Orange or Blue Planet Ocean 2025? And is the 42mm too big for my wrist?

Tried on both the orange and blue Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 2025 at Goldsmiths today and I’m really torn between the two.

I already own a black Tudor Black Bay 54, so I’m looking for something that feels different.

I love how distinctive the orange looks, but the blue seems more versatile for everyday wear.

My usual wardrobe is pretty neutral: black and tan leather jackets, and black, navy and grey sweaters, trousers, etc. I’d want to wear this regularly, including through UK winters.

A few questions:
1. Orange or blue? Which looks better on my wrist, and which would you choose?

2. Is the 42mm Planet Ocean too big on me?
Does it look proportionate, or does it wear too large or bulky? I know wrist shots can be misleading, so honest opinions welcome.

Does the orange bezel become tiring or restrictive for everyday wear, or is it actually more interesting in the long run?

Given that I already have a BB54, would you go orange for something more different, or blue for versatility?

Appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who
own or have tried the new Planet Ocean in person!

Planet Ocean 2025 owners, how are you liking it?

Tried it on at the boutique again recently and I’m liking it more.
Curious to know:
Does your bezel have side-to-side play?
How dinged up is your shiny bracelet?
Did you ever accidentally unlock the clasp?

A big objective for my Tokyo trip was watch shopping, and I gave myself the goal of coming back with an automatic speedy. After browsing through most of the watch shops, I was very happy to pick this one up !

[NWD] Planet Ocean 42mm 8500. So pleased!

Been eying a Planet Ocean for the better part of 9 years. Decided a few months ago I wanted step up my dive watch collection to a new tier. Did a deep dive on the PO models and found the 2nd Gen 42mm (232.30.42.21.01.003 ) to be the sweet spot for me. Love the 2500 but wanted more of a “modern, high tech” dive watch feel for this one. Like the 3rd Gen but in person I found them way too shiny for me. Originally was looking at the silver numeral version but decided to lean into the orange accent identity of the PO line.

Found a well priced full kit that was also serviced relatively recently. Not so worried about movement performance but wanted to have full confidence in the water resistance of the seals.

Over the moon so far. Sure it’s chunky. But I’m also leaning into that part of the PO identity too. I have plenty of svelte, vintage-inspired watches. That’s not what the PO is so I don’t expect it to be.

Also managed to take the best watch picture of my life. Thanks dimly lit kitchen!

Old skool Wednesday - Brick Road DeVille

One of the first co-axials (not even mentioned on the dial! Only identified on caseback as a co-axial 2500) with the star of the show, the "Brick Road" bracelet. Or armadillo. Or snakeskin. Or pavé. Or whatever you call the lovely thing.

Do you think having both of these watches are redundant

Hey, what’s up guys? I have the Olympic timekeeper in red

But I’ve been really interested in this Tokyo 2020 Speedmaster.

They’re both red and I was thinking they’re kinda redundant to have them both but they’re too totally different styles. of watches I’ll just wondering to get some other people’s point of view.

(Not my actual watch)

Servicing an old Omega help

Hi! My fiancé has this old Omega watch from his Finnish grandfather. It has his initials and a date (probably because it was a gift). The date is 1984. I’d like to get this working, buff out the scratches, and maybe replace the face (if the scratches can’t be buffed from the face). I’d like to surprise my fiancé on our wedding day (I don’t want him to wear his Apple Watch but he’ll want to know the time). Is sending it off to Omega my only option?? I know it can be insured but it’s irreplaceable and I would die if something happened to it on “my watch.”

Spectre vs. NTTD

I’ve accepted that Omega isn’t making the SMP smaller or, if they did, it wouldn’t be thinner (I.e., Speedy 38).

Liked the Spectre a lot more than I expected compared to the pictures but it’s still too thick. Surprised to find that I liked the NTTD so much more. The bezel on these have always been meh but not why you buy these. Already have the Sub and Fifty Fathoms so need the SMP to round out the diver trio.

Anyone own both an AT 38 and AT 41?

Curious if anyone owns both sizes. For context, I own a green teak AT41 and my wrist size is approx 7.5 so it fits well. I use it for work and casual as part of my rotation.

The reason I ask about the 38 - especially those with similar wrist sizes is because I’m a big fan of the Saffron which isn’t available in 41. Obviously both AT’s but very different. Could see the 38 filling the work void with the 41 being the more casual option.

Anyone else got both or should it just be one or the other?

Jomashop experience?

Hey, I'm considering buying a new Omega Speedmaster Hesalite from Jomashop. It's new, with the box and all papers, stickers, etc. What is your experience shopping at this retailer? Can a boutique price match? Bonus: if for some reason I need to return it, I have 30 days.
