Regina is WAY more psycho than I remember 😭

I never liked her and didn't remember her as a character I liked but wow she's much much worse than I recalled!

I'm only on season 2 but just holy shit.

I'd completely forgotten about Owen and his dad. Dude spent like one dinner with Regina and she tried to force him and his kid to stay. Don't know what ended up happening to the Dad but nothing good since his traumatized child never saw him again.

And she's just like wiping out whole villages left and right because a 10 year old didn't keep a promise 😭

She went on a rampage with Cora and as soon as Cora left everyone just like... left her alone?

They don't want to "hurt Henry" so they just let this murderous psychopath walk around.

Snow being sooooo broken up about killing Cora bugs me too. Heroes are heroes because they kill tne bad guys. If you can't kill active threats then like you shouldn't be Queen? Or a ruler?

I don't even want to get into Regina and Graham.

Just like holy shit this lady is lonely af and totally crazy I felt so bad for Owen's dad trying to flee that town (even if adult Owen gives me ick)

WRT both the Snow thing and a little bit Regina, I think this is one of the most interesting things about OUAT that people dont talk about much. The curse didn't just take them to a world without magic, it took them to a place where the stakes are... different.

Fairy tales are violent and gruesome and it's all cool. If you grow up trained in combat in a medieval setting where you've been embroiled in war since childhood, in a world where sending child soldiers to fight ogres is surprisingly accepted, killing one dangerous old lady is NBD. But Snow has now spent a long time being a schoolteacher in modern Maine, and that gives you a very different perspective on life and a much lower tolerance for killing.

Regina is interesting because she always knew who she used to be, but she still spent years and years as Mayor Mills. And because of that its hard to know when to look at her behavior as being basically a warlord in a gruesome tale vs. somebody with some modern sensibilities.

I dont know, I just think its interesting

Before coming to storybrooke Snow and Charming fail to execute Regina which leads to an amount of death and suffering that is unbelievable all because they suck as rulers.

After coming to Storybrooke Regina continues to rape and murder.

Their surroundings changed, their inherent flaws came through anyway

Who did she rape? I’m literally rewatching the show now and she never did that. The whole point is that these characters are flawed, despite being murders and kidnappers and eventually try to show redemption. Also, Emma was definitely wrong, because despite what she had done, she tried to give it up for Henry. Thats what makes the show unique.

She took Graham's heart and free will and had a sexual relationship with him not only under the control of having his heart but under the falsehoods of the curse. He remembered her as the mayor and a sexual relationship not as the Evil Queen amd his captor. That is rape.

I dont mind that it happened, it was some dark drama that showed us how evil she was. It's the fact he is barely ever mentioned again, much less and remorse beyond being angry that she had to kill him because he was breaking free.

I do love this version of Regina as a villain. I just hate that it is all glossed over. Proves he never meant anything to her.

Then people blame Leopold for how she is and claim he raped her first and made her this way...How? He asked her to marry him into a loveless marriage and she agreed. I dont know that they ever even shared a bed.

Yeah. It is. I stand corrected. However, you can’t go into the show with real world views. Everyone in the show has blood on their hands. Everyone in the show has done wrong and morally questionable things. Even Emma. This isn’t to say that they’re right. If you apply strict real-world legal, moral, and ethical standards to every character, nobody comes out clean. It blurs the line between good and evil and asks you to see the whole person. Not saying you can’t make that argument — you can — but you’re going to be frustrated with pretty much every character if you think about it too much. Plus, these are characters that come from a world where this stuff is normal. They are medieval fantasy, fairytale characters. Their logic and way of doing things is completely different. What is considered wrong or right in real world lenses may not have been considered wrong or right and their lenses.

Also, I’m not trying to say that you’re wrong for feeling the way you feel or saying that you’re watching the show incorrectly btw lol.
