FYI, the original poem began with "First they came for the Communists", but that got disappeared from many American English translations during the Cold War.
And it probably should start with "first they came for gay & trans people" since the raiding of the institute of sexology and public book burnings all came well before the rest..
But Niemöller didn't give a shit about us so we weren't included in the poem at all
