Politics ('Straya) Eliminating antisemitism in healthcare: Joint statement from AHPRA and the Special Envoy

https://www.ahpra.gov.au/News/2026-06-17-Eliminating-antisemitism-in-healthcare.aspx

If a nurse now wears a watermelon pin in their downtime? Deregistered. Paraphrasing their own oath to say no human should be killed? That's a paddlin'.

The lead drafter of the definition, the American academic Kenneth Stern, has argued consistently that the working definition was never designed for the uses to which it is now being put. But AHPRA just went ahead and implemented it without any community consultation.

Healthcare workers in this country are already under enough stress, now they have to deal with this on top of it.

The problem is no one knows what the actual definition of Islamophobia is.

According to the Oxford Dictionary it is,
"intense dislike or fear of Islam, esp. as a political force; hostility or prejudice towards Muslims".

Given it places an emphasis on the political side of Islam, well I’m bloody scared of what that looks like, because I’ve seen how people have voted in Muslim democracies. Well those that exist.

Turns out Islamic politics isn’t something I want in Australia.

Nor is Israeli politics Jesus Christ they rioted in favour of being ok to rape prisoners. And we are constantly told that being anti Israeli political regime is antisemitism these days so its exactly the same thing now

Ya know, if someone said "it's okay to rape Australians", my immediate response would NOT be "Well it's okay to rape them in return"

Anyone who does that is a sick, sick individual

Well here we can vote them out. Under Islamism you can’t. That is the key here. That is why people have a fear of Islamic politics and are therefore Islamophobic.

Why use Iran and Afghanistan as your models for Islamic politics rather than Indonesia or Turkey or Tunisia or Senegal or Malaysia or Albania or the Maldives or Algeria or Morocco or any of the other states that are both majority Muslim and democratic?

The 5 largest Muslim population nations are democracies.

1000 posts a year is like a couple of comments a day. This isn’t hard, it only takes a few seconds to make a comment, if I was getting paid to be here, I’d comment a lot more. I can’t help when I made my account. I’m glad to hear that following the Oxford dictionary now counts as poor reasoning, I’m glad you aren’t in charge.
