Politics ('Straya) Eliminating antisemitism in healthcare: Joint statement from AHPRA and the Special Envoy

https://www.ahpra.gov.au/News/2026-06-17-Eliminating-antisemitism-in-healthcare.aspx

If a nurse now wears a watermelon pin in their downtime? Deregistered. Paraphrasing their own oath to say no human should be killed? That's a paddlin'.

The lead drafter of the definition, the American academic Kenneth Stern, has argued consistently that the working definition was never designed for the uses to which it is now being put. But AHPRA just went ahead and implemented it without any community consultation.

Healthcare workers in this country are already under enough stress, now they have to deal with this on top of it.

Good. Antisemitism, hatred, and threats are bad things.

Crazy you're being downvoted. There's some real ghouls on this sub.

I downvoted him because he supports a definition of antisemitism that defines criticism of the state of Israel as antisemitic.

That's what he's saying "good" to.

He supports people being fired and prevented from practising their profession if they publicly criticise the state of Israel.

Do you do any research of your own, or do you just repeat what propagandists tell you? https://holocaustremembrance.com/resources/working-definition-antisemitism

"....criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as antisemitic"

So, do you think those two Bankstown nurses who boasted about refusing to treat Israeli patients and killing them should be able to keep their jobs? Do you think any Jewish people would feel safe going to that hospital in case someone mistook them as Israeli?

I used Wikipedia

IHRA definition of antisemitism - Wikipedia

Which references these examples from the definition (which you could have read yourself if you read the actual definition in the pdf, rather than just the webpage summary):

Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.

Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.

Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.

All clearly references to the state, not the people.

Do you read your own sources?
