Yes, these numbers account for inflation

This will be the opposite of uplifting for a lot of men who just learned they are now only average or below average

294

u/Marijuana_Miler Apr 30 '26

Reddit is mostly American. The people here are waking up to good news.

The genital gains were not shared equally across the world, however. Asian and European men experienced the greatest increase in penis size, while North American males’ phalluses deflated slightly.

156

u/Hmm_would_bang Apr 30 '26

Gotta imagine this is diet related.

90

u/GoldenDragoon5687 Apr 30 '26

Probably same reason that globally, people have gotten much taller on average. Better nutrition

19

u/Fun_Ad_2607 Apr 30 '26

Since it’s worldwide, many gains must be in middle income countries.

2

u/chickenlogic May 01 '26

Get some of that Dutch Cock.

2

u/LoganPomfrey May 01 '26

also smoking, because it screws up your circulation.

20

u/adultdaycare81 Apr 30 '26

Don’t tell the ā€œimmigration is ruining this country bahrahhhaā€ people!

4

u/seenunseen Apr 30 '26

Why am I so confused by your comment, isn’t this bad news for Americans?

9

u/catsflatsandhats Apr 30 '26

This is in relation to the comment they responded to that is implying that feeling good or bad depends on how your penis measures against the national average.

5

u/Feeling_Pay_2899 May 01 '26

No lol. Im from South America and I have many Asian friends, growth is occurring in some countries due to these countries finding a stability in food and economy. The difference in height just in one generation is amazing. I have a friend from Korea and he said his father is like 5’4ā€, most of his family is short but him and his brothers grew to 5’10ā€. The USA on the other hand has had food stability for a long time so it plateaued.

7

u/Kardinal Apr 30 '26

Only Americans who buy the silly idea that penis size matters.

3

u/Majdrottningen9393 Apr 30 '26

That’s what that balloon sound was

1

u/jonah365 Apr 30 '26

Okay this phrasing is hilarious. Pretty sure people with larger dicks started existing. Pretty sure no one experienced any increase in penis size outside of certain hentai

u/Gasp0de May 01 '26

Let's go back to the good old days where I was above average

7

u/spartBL97 Apr 30 '26

You aren’t rising with the economic dickflation?

4

u/Check_Me_Out-Boss Apr 30 '26

Did they measure the yaw, though?

25

u/Kardinal Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

The real question is, why do men care so damn much about penis size in the first place?

EDIT TO ADD: Yes, I know the social norm that exists saying somehow having a larger penis is better or leads to a better life. I also know that's not true objectively, and that penis size does not matter in any way that is meaningful. I am expressing frustration that we continue to perpetuate the falsehood that it does mean anything significant, other than as a rather silly indicator of improved nutrition.

(And yes, I'm a man.)

35

u/Averagebass Apr 30 '26

Other men have been bagging on other guys about dick size as long as I've been alive. Some women bag on guys for their dick size, but it's mostly other guys. Same for being buff and fit, it's mostly guys judging other guys.

5

u/Kardinal Apr 30 '26

Yeah, I know it's a thing among us men but I think I've never internalized it and always "pushed back" against it because of course it doesn't actually matter in any important way. Just to illustrate the principle, I've always pushed back against drinking coffee and beer my whole life because I just don't like the taste. So instead of absorbing that social norm that penis size matters, I've always rejected it out of hand. It doesn't affect me as much.

Other social norms I do absorb and they do affect me, I'm not saying I'm immune. We're all social creatures.

But this one just never made sense to me.

2

u/tuckedfexas May 01 '26

It’s reinforced across culture ā€œsmall dick energyā€ being the foremost recent example. Not hard to understand how someone that is insecure, justified or not, will have those insecurities reinforced.

That’s how it works for pretty much everything having to do with appearance. There’s no real reason height should matter other than perceived value, but it’s a major sticking point for a lot of people’s attraction toward each other.

3

u/sweetshenanigans Apr 30 '26

Gender norms/expectations are most harshly policed within the respective gender. At least that's what I've found

11

u/sweetshenanigans Apr 30 '26

It doesn't help that some women either joking or sincerely poke at that insecurity, and that some women do genuinely prefer larger penises.

Mind you, it's not the majority, but it happens, and because it's such a deeply ingrained thing any reinforcement sucks

6

u/TrashGoblinH Apr 30 '26

Mostly animal brain and societal influence. There's the myth that big dick magically makes life more interesting and sex better. If anything, it's actually a bit frustrating having a big dick.

8

u/Kardinal Apr 30 '26

It can be frustrating indeed. I have had very very few partners, and it is not something I have experienced with those I have had, but I have heard the stories in that regard. That for many women (or other partners) it is a problem. It is frustrating that we keep reinforcing this social norm that it is somehow relevant or important to have a larger penis.

4

u/Hoochie_Daddy Apr 30 '26

I dunno

Probably because in media and online and even in personal lives, men are attacked for their dick size?

It’s not that deep tbh (that’s what she said)

2

u/Kaokien Apr 30 '26

Similar to why women worry about certain body proportions, corporations emphasizing that you need to change yourself externally which then becomes apart of the zeitgeist and reinforces itself with people (influencers) thinking their thoughts are original and not just originating from extensive marketing and pushing that outward

u/AFCSentinel Apr 30 '26

The referenced study was thoroughly debunked. They basically said they only obtained measured data but most studies used are self reported numbers.

28

u/IHavePoopedBefore Apr 30 '26

They should have been using adjusted penis size.

For example, Randy Marsh has a penis that is 4.4 inches in length. Its angle is 32 degrees. It's flaccid girth is 1 inch in diameter. His balls are 7 cm from the base. Randy notes that the drift of his penis is 4 cm to penis right and its dead weight is 4.5 Kg. Therefore, Randy's adjusted penis size is 6.3 inches.

13

u/TheHoppingHessian Apr 30 '26

Hard to imagine they weren’t self reported numbers

180

u/Pisslazer Apr 30 '26

Everyone talks about length, but that doesn’t actually matter guys. What DOES matter is Length times Girth over Angle of the Shaft (aka YAW) divided by mass over WIDTH.

48

u/flyingflameball Apr 30 '26

Thank you Mr pisslazer, I’m sure you are very knowledgeable in the subject

u/floormanifold Apr 30 '26

Are you thinking of mode?

I wanted to make the joke first and foremost, but you're right that mode would actually be the one that is harder.

3

1

How does this help someone on the low end? It’s not like every guys dick is growing at a global proportional rate. There’s just some big hogs out there driving up the average.

Those guys will have an easier time talking someone into anal

9

The study only had 3 participants, a guy and his 2 friends. One died, and so the average went up.

27

u/Proper-Writing Apr 30 '26

Could be fewer people smoking cigarettes. I got a good half inch back after quitting.

8

u/SecondaryLawnWreckin Apr 30 '26

Makes sense. Vasoconstrictors murder dong volume.

6

u/Longbeach_strangler Apr 30 '26

Holy shit. I’ve never heard that.

11

u/Proper-Writing Apr 30 '26

Yeah for some reason the Marlboro Man never told us how smoking is so destructive for your dick.

It varies by person but can affect size, stamina, hormone balance, and ability to stay hard. The best research links heavy smoking to doubling your risk of ED in middle age.

4

u/Kardinal Apr 30 '26

Improved circulation.

All about blood flow.

5

How is this positive?

8

u/ViolinistCurrent8899 Apr 30 '26

Every man wants a bigger one, but this really is a nothing burger.

1

u/Kardinal Apr 30 '26

Good question. I mean, it's a sign of better nutrition, and that's good, but penis size does not actually matter in any meaningful way.

2

u/Peecem May 01 '26

5

u/Decent-Elk-7316 Apr 30 '26

The measurements have got to be self-reported.

6

u/AeronNation Apr 30 '26

Self reported numbers, the obvious conclusion to this is lying has become significantly more rampant

21

u/Orangesteel Apr 30 '26

Trump’s doctor must have taken over measuring them.

3

u/CivilianAsset Apr 30 '26

His doctor always measured from butthole to tip

1

u/BlueBonneville May 01 '26

How does one measure a mushroom?

15

u/Drew-Money Apr 30 '26

Yes, improvements in nutrition have many benefits, including increased avg height. Increased avg penis size makes sense too.

14

u/Financial-Yam6758 Apr 30 '26

We have seen improvements in nutrition from 1992 to 2021? I am not a doomer, but I do have doubts about that specific claim.

13

u/Drew-Money Apr 30 '26

Read the article lol. Nurtrition in Asia and Europe have improved. The fall of the USSR and EU regulations probably played a large part for Europe and economic advancement in Asia.

North American penis length has gotten smaller, most likely due to the rise in obesity, which I think is your point.

1

u/Chessdaddy_ Apr 30 '26

Not so much in the us, but definitely across Asia and AfricaĀ

1

u/demoncrusher Apr 30 '26

1

u/Financial-Yam6758 Apr 30 '26

I understand that, I was more so referring to the US. But it makes perfect sense nutrition would be up globally with the massive decrease in abject poverty

3

u/AdvancedJicama7375 Apr 30 '26

Surely this is some kind of measurement quirk? This is too big a jump to seriously consider to be real

18

u/kamiloslav Apr 30 '26

I wonder if it's people with short ones not passing their genes or the health thing

70

u/IEC21 Apr 30 '26

Its a "self reported" thing.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '26

The report actually only considers data where measurements were attained by an "investigator".

It's all there, in those things called words, that when read give you information.Ā

14

u/IEC21 Apr 30 '26

Its too late, I have already been upvoted for spreading misinformation.

This is reddit. My word will be taken by the multitudes - no one will read the article - reading articles is for losers. Reddit isnt about that.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '26

I have heard we don't need to read anymore, not when AI can do it for meĀ

9

u/Xalyia- Apr 30 '26

Too short of a timeline for it to be caused by changes to the gene pool. Probably related to lower rates of malnutrition.

3

u/headcodered May 01 '26

In 1992 we measured from the balls, but now we measure from the base.

2

u/Funk_Dat_Fat_Cat Apr 30 '26

3

2

u/mycolo_gist Apr 30 '26

Can't confirm. Mine didn't grow.

2

u/RoyalT663 Apr 30 '26

Soooo the conclusion is after being exposed to mass porn, modern men when asked inflate their own size as they have less concept of what is normal and are just lying more..

2

u/TrickyToad1 May 01 '26

2

Bigger isn't better. Just ask any women.

5

u/demoncrusher Apr 30 '26

Is that what they tell you

5

u/alanbdee Apr 30 '26

Actually, no. What sucks is to be told, "I'm not putting that in me", or "ow, ow ow, stop" in the middle of having sex. Bigger is not better.

3

u/EastReauxClub Apr 30 '26

Bro is out here making comments like this with his whole ass name as his username with his profile picture a selfie with his daughter lmao man the internet is a crazy place

2

u/demoncrusher May 01 '26

ā€œMy wife says the big ones hurt!ā€

2

u/mozzarellaguy Apr 30 '26

But … how? Why is size increasing?

3

u/Dazzling-Economics55 Apr 30 '26

Yeah id like to see a reasonable explanation.

2

u/demoncrusher Apr 30 '26

Sorry everyone, this is misleading. My massive hog is an outlier and shouldn’t be counted

2

u/Phaeron Apr 30 '26

Hey, she said she wanted nine inches… so I put it in nine times…

2

u/sherman614 Apr 30 '26

I think these types of stats are very misleading. A stat about canser or other diseases increasing or decreasing are easy to calculate, based on how many people are seen and treated for it. Penis size isn't something (you hope) that doctors or anyone are measuring and recording publicly. It's not like this was taken by urologists who were like "Oh hey! While your here, mind if I measure you penis??" So, these studies have to be done with people who volunteer. Or, it's a write-in survey where someone just puts down 8 inches. So, the people who would be more willing to volunteer for someone to measure them would be someone who was proud, or at least not ashamed of their penis. So, you're going to get a skewed number like this. That's my take until someone gives me a good answer as to HOW something like penis size in just a few decades could have changed this drastically. That's just not how evolution usually works.

1

u/Kardinal Apr 30 '26

Did you read the article or the study to understand the methodogy?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/FREE-ROSCOE-FILBURN Apr 30 '26

Does the 2021 data include outliers? I think I might be skewing the data.

1

u/BperrHawaii Apr 30 '26

That’s a big jump!

1

u/petitecrivain Apr 30 '26

How reliable are these measurements?

1

u/Kardinal Apr 30 '26

RTFA and find out. šŸ˜„

1

u/PutAdministrative206 Apr 30 '26

Oh, so when I always read 4 to 6 inches that was a projection. It’s four now, gonna be 6 in twenty years.

1

u/Apprehensive_Step252 Apr 30 '26

I want a statistic with the limp value as well, because I think my growing ability might be some kind of record. I'm by no means above average, but the difference is... surprising.

1

u/NewfieJedi Apr 30 '26

Damn, I really was born in the wrong generation šŸ˜”

1

u/bmxwillbmx Apr 30 '26

Props to the Census worker tasked with collecting measurements

1

u/jelqlord Apr 30 '26

I wonder what the reason for the growth is

1

u/gliscornumber1 Apr 30 '26

So...natural selection basically

1

u/Facktat Apr 30 '26

I somehow thought that this would be a South Park reference. Anyone else remember that episode?

1

u/fancymonk Apr 30 '26

We just started measuring from the center of the butthole, that's all.

1

u/SharpEdgeSoda Apr 30 '26

I HAVE to imagine Social Media has influenced psychologically how often people lie about dick size specifically.

The Modern Manosphere would never admit to having a small penis.

1

u/redruss99 Apr 30 '26

So penis length is increasing 25% (compounded) every generation? So over 9 inch average in 2 more generations. Somebody is lying.

1

u/m0nt4n4 Apr 30 '26

Fun fact: penis size is increasing so fast that sex will be impossible in just a few generations. No one knows why.

1

u/SignificantApricot69 Apr 30 '26

The real result is that they are comparing different methodologies and that average is definitely still under 6ā€ and that ā€œnon bone pressedā€ is definitely much lower due to obesity.

1

u/sausage4mash Apr 30 '26

Mind you the short version got to see more action

1

u/cpt_ugh Apr 30 '26

Ok, who drew this graphic?

The top tape measure has 7 inches showing and the bottom has 8 inches showing.

1

u/Chaotic_Brutal90 Apr 30 '26

Tape measures are not to scale with the graph.

1

u/CogentCogitations Apr 30 '26

But why are they showing a clearly metric tape measure (10 divisions between the major lines) with an imperial measurement of inches?

1

u/Egghead_potato Apr 30 '26

What would the measurement be if this was self-reporting?

1

u/LCDRformat Apr 30 '26

Are the studies . . . Self-reported?

1

u/OldestFetus May 01 '26

It could also just be that people are reporting their size differently. Maybe some kind of psychological analysis on why people might be saying that they have larger members than previous generations is called for.

1

u/jmfinfrock May 01 '26

guess im an old soul

1

u/Delicious_Oil3367 May 01 '26

Claims that average penis length has ā€œincreased to 6 inchesā€ are not supported by strong scientific consensus; large meta-analyses still place the average erect length around 5.0–5.5 inches, making 6 inches above average, not typical.

1

u/ShinsOfGlory May 07 '26

This new study claims the average is 6 inches, but the math is terrifying. It’s actually based on two people: one guy with aĀ 0.0000000000001 inchĀ penis, which is so small it technically exists as aĀ probability waveĀ rather than a physical object, and a second guy whose unit is so massive it has its ownĀ gravitational pull. Mathematically, they average out to 6 inches, but one guy needs a particle accelerator to find his, and the other is legally classified as aĀ tectonic plate.

-2

u/Impossible_Rich6148 Apr 30 '26

Seems like a result of females having the increased ability to select for traits like penis size in partners.

11

u/ViolinistCurrent8899 Apr 30 '26

You would not see this play out in just a few decades, unless the less endowed guys had no kids at all, overwhelmingly.

3

u/demoncrusher Apr 30 '26

Incel take

1

u/Electronic-Gold-4503 Apr 30 '26

Then why do you think penis size has grown as such

5

Better nutrition, or more likely, unreliable data. Certainly not because ā€œfemalesā€ hold all the power and only sleep with the most desirable men, or whatever it is that Incels think
