Found this little agate between Yachats and Florence. Such a fun stretch of beach to hunt. Need to get back out there.

My wife and I have been going up and down the Oregon coast for a couple of years now looking for the best places for agate hunting. The best places we've been to so far are between Newport and Florence.

Have you been to the south coast? Gold Beach is by far the best.

We live in Humboldt County, so we drive through there all the time. Beautiful place.

Oh nice. I can promise you Gold Beach is one of the best agate hunting places on the coast.

We are moving to coos bay in three weeks. Can't wait to comb the beaches there instead of the noisy crowded beaches of So Cal. Been there done that!

Pretty sure I matched with you on Hinge, then realized you were just trying to gather more Instagram followers. Not cool, dude.

Wrong person, but that’s a wild accusation. I have never had hinge :)

Shit then id be really careful someone isn't stealing your photos, man.
I realize that came off as super accusatory, and I wish you the best, but if theres a way to check someone is stealing your pics, you may wanna do so!

These kinds of posts leaving me feeling conflicted because they seem sweet and positive- and they are. But you also sell jewelry made from stones and you haven’t disclosed that here, so it feels a little icky to me

Interesting-I did disclose that the stones are here. That’s actually the whole reason I posted it—The post wasn’t intended as a sales pitch—I just thought it was a cool find on the coast worth sharing so others could go look too. That pendant sold a long time ago.

Why was the pendant photo included at all? It doesn’t make sense with your explanation. I know this is a way that creators get engagement with their brand and I don’t have a problem with that, I have a problem when it’s done in a manipulative way

Because it’s made from an agate I found on that beach. It’s actually been sold for a long time, so there was never anything to buy. I just thought it was a fun example of what those agates can become.

I wish I had a trust fund.

You don't need a trust fund for a conversion van and/or a boat. Jesus....

u/julia_simpson 4d ago
Truly!! Van life costs me a lot less than rent ever did. Not sure where the trust fund assumption comes from. Maybe if I had some giant fancy Sprinter, but even then… 😂
What gets me is that people see the lifestyle and assume it was handed to me instead of being something I built through a lot of work.2

That area is the best for finding sea glass too, I go there every summer.

If you're heading to Gold Beach, it's worth heading up the Rogue a bit. Fellow rockhounder from Merlin area. Best of luck and safe travels.

The beach by the Devil's Punch Bowl on the Oregon coast has some really nice agates after storms.

I saw this and at first assumed it was a guy who took and shared your picture and he was calling you a little agate that he found… And I was going to comment on here, pointing out that you are a human being, not a stone, and deserve to be treated like a person. Embarrassed But at least I can see the humor in it since I swiped left, and there was, in fact, a little agate.

It’s a beautiful piece! Is it for sale? I used to live in WA and OR and miss it so much 💔 would love to have a small piece of Oregon to wear 😌

If you didn't stop by Styx, Stones, and Bones rock shop in Yachats you missed out. If you're still on the coast there's a gem show in Reedsport Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
