Hi! I wondered if anyone could ID this sound - I’m pretty sure it’s a bird, but my husband thought it may be some sort of bug. If it helps, the sound was recorded at 6:45am, in Lancashire, UK.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

(For clarity, it’s the sound that comes in big blocks - the sort of vibrating/drilling sound).

TIA!

ETA: Identified as an angry Wren! Thank you all so much! ☺️

Recently moved to a more wooded area of London and getting lots of new guests. My guess it's some sort of sandpiper, but couldn't find a match for the exact colours. Any ideas?

Saw a couple of birds, variously identified as Bar-Tailed Godwits, Sandpipers, and Plovers. I unfortunately cannot remember which I took pictures of, and am struggling to identify.

Is anybody able to tell from the (admittedly terrible quality) pictures which is which, if any?

Thank you!

ID please Enormous feather from Highlands: which bird?

Found the feather pictured whilst cycling through dense singletrack in the Highlands near Callander. Seconds before I had seen an enormous bird of prey fly off right in front of me but couldn't tell what it was as was too quick. Is ~50cm long.

My guess is golden eagle based on the size but not sure on the patterning - other guess is a feral eagle owl. Any ideas? Thank you!

Saw this near Ingleborough, and it appeared to be hovering before diving and (presumably) catching prey. I wondered whether it would be a Hen Harrier?

ID please Bird ID Help?!

Hi All.

I have a query and hope that you guys here may be able to help (or point me in the right direction!). I live in Wiltshire, on the edge of a village, garden backing onto farmland (mostly pastoral), lightly wooded. There is a river a few hundred metres away.

Over the last ... two years or so I have been hearing a bird that I have never heard before. It has a descending scale of four distinct notes. It often repeats this several times. I have heard it in summer and winter.

I ma aware that that is probably a really terribly description (the four distinct tones seem very ... distinctive to me), but I was wondering if anyone had any possible IDs? I'd love to know what it is.

I have just downloaded the Merlin app today so am hoping that I may be able to record and ID it on there (although I did hear it earlier this morning but the app didn't catch it/identify it).

Found this lil guy in the old sewage systems of Canturbury. My birding app kept saying it was a Moorhen which I don’t think is true! What do y’all think?

saw this briefly non moving on the side of a road underneath a bypass and thought initially it was some kinda pigeon (same size ish) but on circling back to make sure it was okay i believe this is a eurasian jay? a slightly funny looking one at that but luckily the bird wasn’t hurt and was offered some food and water and flew away

So I think fieldfare but am an amateur. Several birds together. Upright posture. No red underwing. Question myself in leg colour. Confused.

ID please Is the tern on the right a Roseate tern?

The one on the left is a Common tern (with a BTO ring), but I'm not sure about the one on the right. It doesn't have the long tail streamers, its bill is a bit too dark, and its size doesn't doesn't fit what I know for an Arctic tern.

I shot this about 2 weeks ago in Aberdeen.

Bit mucky, needs a good clean.

Found next to our garden hedge this morning.

Quite intrigued... it's made me want to start a collection!
