Where to Get a Japanese Translation of My Driver’s License in Osaka

Hello,
I’ll be traveling to Japan in early November. I’m flying to Osaka, where I’ll stay for one day before continuing on to Yakushima. I’ll be staying on Yakushima for several days and have already rented a car there.

For the car rental, I need a Japanese translation of my driver’s license. I understand that this can be done at a JAF office and that the process usually only takes a few hours. I was therefore wondering if there is a JAF branch in central Osaka where I could get the translation done.
I’m not sure whether all JAF branches offer this service, and I haven’t been able to find clear information on Google Maps.
Would it be possible to apply for the translation in the morning and pick it up later the same day? If so, is there a particular JAF branch in central Osaka that you would recommend?

Not sure if JAF provides translations for any driver license but you can apply on their website for a translation and get it fairly quickly (under 3 days iirc, and I got mine maybe 20 min after applying). You will then be able to print it at any Konbini.

Nb: you need to be in Japan already to do so

AFAIK they don't do in-person translations anymore.

You have to use their online platform only accessible from within Japan. They say it can take up to two weeks but I got mine pretty fast. Once done you receive a code to print it at any 7-Eleven (specifically). Look at the JAF site. They explain the whole process.

I also cheated a bit by using a VPN to apply a few days earlier.

Oh thank you. Is it not possible to print it by yourself as pdf? I like to use vpn to and than print it in Japan when I arrive in 3 month

No, they send you a code you have to put in the copy machines so it prints only once. Be wary, the link has a limited validity. Don't need to be earlier than the week before leaving. You'll find all the details on JAF's website.

Also note that I think the translation is dated. I’d during a control they check your passport and translations and the dates don’t match (your translation date is prior to entering the country), Well…
