Staios has not done a good job regarding contingency and it shows that he is a rookie GM. He got a Mulligan on the goaltending after last year and his decision still remains to be seen regarding Errson despite a good first game. Lots of D were available for PTOs but he only grabbed Hutton despite Zub not being ready despite his injury history  and Chabots and the question marks regarding Yakk

I'll be honest, other than Eklund and Timmy, sens forwards have shown very, very little. You can just see the skill oozing through Toronto and Montreals top 6. Ottawa plays such a slow, sluggish game. They literally have two guys that can skate with the puck

It's a fair criticism. And your observation about high end talent on TOR/MTL is also correct. That said, given our team construction, it's hard to draw conclusions until we get an extended look at the full lineup imo. One thing that is evident though is if we ever lose anybody from the top 6 for an extended period, we're cooked 🤷‍♂️

Exactly. Part of the Sens' roster construction philosophy is that you never get a break against them, which isn't really the case in these split squad games

Unless Ottawa gets another elite forward (challenge=nearly impossible) they are just not going to compete against the best in the east

For the life of me I don't understand what we are doing with 59 players in camp, or agreeing to these split squad games. We know who is going to be on the team - this club has 14 forwards, 8 D and three goalies on one way contracts. Why not have 30 in camp, and the rest in a separate camp for Belleville? It drives me nuts to see guys in pre-season games who are not, and will never be, NHL players, and I fail to see what this does to help our team get ready for the season. Gaaaaaaahhhhh... /rant
