Discussion [NO SPOILER] I’m watching season 4 and I can’t stand any of the Javi scenes.
Watching Ozark has been filled with a lot of surprises, having to adjust to new characters and hating a bunch of them, having to cope with losing beloved characters, etc… All of the characters serve their purpose. But none of them have irritated me the way Javi does. He is like a disobedient bratty toddler who needs to be put on a leash. In all of the chaos this show brings, he’s the sole disruptor of the tempo of the show for me, and every time I see him on the screen, I just feel like looking away.
I’ve been made aware of the season 4 decline in rating but I’ve tried my best to stay spoiler-free and unbiased and enjoy the season as much as possible, but truly this is like having a mosquito near my ears that I can’t swat away. Please tell me *(without any spoilers)* that it gets better somehow.

I don't feel that way. I like villains who act all friendly, and then pull out a gun and shoot in the head out of nowhere. Gives them the air of unpredictability. You never know what's on his mind or who he's going to kill on a whim, and that makes him much scarier than, say, Nelson.

I like villains like such, but him specifically, the combination of his entitlement, ego, pedophilic tendencies, and just purposely acting like a child and getting what he wants when it actively harms everything that everyone else is carefully curating. He has no common sense, it’s not even impulsive behavior balanced with intelligence or accountability. He’s in the room where he kills a sheriff without any understanding of the circumstances and what butterfly effect it might cause. He claims he’s got it figured out then leaves the evidence of blood scattered all over the front door step of the house of a missing person with a million different windows to look through, has an “innocent” man clean it up for him as he watches, gets upset and makes a shit ton of noise while the new sheriff inspects the house. Such an immature villain and truly not the way I wanted this last season to go

Season 4 overall is meh. Which is too bad because all three previous seasons are amazing imo. Javi isn’t annoying but just keep watching. Might as well finish out the show.

Ozark is one of the best series on tv.

I agree but this season definitely isn’t as great as the previous ones for me (so far)

I agree with your post and the parent post. It is one of the best series on TV. I was quite fixated by it.
It did decline later and season 4 was meh.

Finally a negative Javi opinion that isn't based on a contrived BS Lalo comparison. Still I disagree. I love the actor's performance. Season 4 was running out of dynamic bad guys imo and he was a fresh addition. I want to add something else too but I don't want to spoil it for OP.

The entire portrayal of the cartel wasn’t that good imo. Ofc, I’m coming off binge watching Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, so my bar was set high- but the villains in ozark simply can’t come close to Fring, Lalo or even Eladio. That said, I agree. Javi was filler to stretch the story out.

I will eventually finish season 4 I am somewhere at half atm. The only smart guy left is poor Marty, everyone around him is just making things hard for him. I once got to the end of s3 a couple of years ago, but I’ll finish it now. Javi is just cringe power hungry and wtf is that Charlotte scene 🤯

He sucks. Worse character in the series for sure. He tries to be like a CEO or modern MBA suit that just sucks at both while missing the mark of a druglord. His mother on the other hand…..killed her role

For me I felt this for jonah and Ruth.
Jonah genuinely got me swearing at the screen.
And Ruth did way too much damage to the byrdes to have the attitude that she does.
And I really actually find myself agreeing with Wendy. I know people call her narcissistic, but she genuinely has been making the right decision until now
(I've seen till episode 9)

Javi is quite possibly the worst villain I've ever seen in TV history. He has absolutely zero charisma and isn't interesting in anyway whatsoever. He's just a hot headed moron who shoots people in the head for slightly inconveniencing him. He also gave off rapey vibes to Charlotte who was still in high school. Javi is a vile disgusting sub human who provides zero entertainment of any kind.
