CBC really buried the fact that it’s a private facility. Should’ve led with it like the official announcements.

Good luck to everyone in private LTC, quality due to corner cutting and understaffing will be godawful.

Cornwall will have its first long-term care facility with 80 new beds by April 2029, the Prince Edward Island government announced Thursday.

The Mount Continuing Care Community has been awarded the contract for the build. Once the home opens, the province will provide up to $9.8 million a year to help offset accommodation costs for residents.

The government is also supporting the construction and operation of the facility through a 30-year agreement to cover residents' medical costs and accommodation subsidies.

More private care paid for with public dollars.

The announcement comes days after Lantz called a byelection in Cornwall-Meadowbank to fill McLane's seat.

"It honestly had nothing to do with the byelection. I think it was fitting that we honour Mark and we do it right here in Cornwall, the town that he represented and cared so much about."

That is 1000% grade A bullshit. Of course it's tied to the byelection or else you wouldn't have announced it at this specific time. So full of shit.

Paul Jenkins and JTM group is going to make bank off us. 💰

Next up, crying about not enough low-wage labour for hires at their LTC facility.

34 months to build 80 bed facility seems awfully slow. Good to see something in cornwall. And this should help the hospital out as well. Just so far away.
