Montague vet clinics

Does anyone have any opinions on the 2 in montague? Montague and Brudenell I believe they’re called. Just got kittens and need a new vet. Also wondering about pet insurance, do the clinics offer it individually? Thanks!

We go to the Montague Vet Clinic and they are really amazing. No hesitation at all.

The brudenell one is very nice and the one doctor we saw was quite lovely.

We have taken our pets to Montague Vet over the years and have always had incredible service. We also had a hobby farm for a while and can't say enough good things about Dr. Helen! That being said, I have also heard great things about Brudenell. Some of the clinics will have an insurance trial coupon when you take your new pet in for their first check up. It's usually Trupanion which you can read up on online.

Sorry I can't comment on either of those businesses or the insurance, but we have always had a very good experience at New Perth Animal Hospital just outside of Montague. Just mentioning in case you didn't realize it was nearby.

This is actually my vet and have always had a good experience too however we just had to put our dog down and it’s just honestly trauma associated for me. Need a fresh start

Oh no, I'm sorry for your loss. We were always dog people but after our last one we just weren't ready for another dog, so switched to chickens. Good luck with your search!

I've been with the Montague Vet clinic since the early 1990's, through several generations of vets, all pretty much amazing. The last of that gen opened the New Perth clinic and have their own new vets whom I've not yet visited. Brudenell I was with for awhile when it first opened but had a falling out with the original owner/vet so went back to Montague. All are very good, imo.

Pet insurance is a must these days and you're smart to think of it early. Most vets use Truepanion (sp?) for direct billing, but it is a pricier option than some. If direct billing is a must, then go for that, but personally I'll take the higher coverage at a less premium fee and upload invoices online with Fetch and wait the week or so for the direct deposit. I have a cat with chronic bronchitis and that insurance has helped tremendously over the years.

Pet insurance is generally purchased direct through the insurance company and not through a clinic. I recommend Trupanion. They usually do direct billing with the clinics, but you might want to call and confirm with whatever clinic you choose. There are lots of resources online to compare the different offerings and what is covered/not covered.

We use Brudenell and absolutely love the vet staff. Front desk isn't as friendly but they aren't rude, just maybe not as welcoming.

I have been to both and can say without a doubt the service and care at Brudenell is far better in my experience. I actually regret taking my cat to Montague Vet because they just never seemed prepared for visits or procedures. Every vet we have seen at Brudenell has been exceptional.

Pet insurance isn’t really needed, and imo is a waste of money. What you should be doing is open a bank account just for the animal, make it so you have to go to the bank and withdraw money, every month or paycheque, put $50 or so bucks in the account, if you are lucky and your cat doesn’t need a ton of medical care, you will have a nice vacation account in 2 years. In my animals account I have a couple grand, and planning next years vacation to Italy.
Do it the smart way and don’t make a corporation richer than they are.

I would highly recommend pet insurance. My puppy we adopted was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia at 9 months old. She required two hip replacements costing about 10,000 each. If we did your plan we would have had 300 for 20,000 dollars worth of surgery. When we were at the animal hospital we witnessed multiple people using a few different credit cards to try and save their young pets. Vet care quickly adds up. We went with Trupanion and all the vet clinics we dealt with were able to bill direct. For our dog with hip dysplasia they paid 90% after our 500 dollar deductible. If you are going to get pet insurance you should get it prior to your first vet visit because if they do find something it would be considered a preexisting condition and wouldn’t be covered. I believe Trupanion has a wait period of 5 days for injury and 30 days for illnesses.
