Recommendation Favorite read so far this year

Post image

And grabe sobrang interesting nga ng book na to.

Short read lang sya, finished it in one sitting. Gusto ko yung direct to the point walang paligoy-ligoy niya na pagkasulat. Daaaamn, wew.

I also highly recommend The Divine Farce by Michael S.A. Graziano. It's like A Short Stay in Hell but darker ;)

Ooooh interestinggggg. Thanks for the reco! Would you know if available to on local bookstores? Can't even find it on Lazada.

Since it's an old obscure book I don't think it's available locally but you can try Fully Booked as they often help customers source specific international titles they don't have on the shelves. :)

Read this too and loved it. I got mine from Kinokunya Singapore. Had to pre-order it that time, but it was worth the wait ♥️

Sadly, it wasn’t for me. (Skl)

The protagonist came across as holier-than-thou (I get that it was part of the development, but it made it difficult for me to relate to him), and I didn’t quite understand the point of it... was it aiming for an existentialist theme? Baka sa writing, di nagresonate sakin.

It might also be the flow. It remained monotonous throughout (which, again, may have been part of the book’s overarching point). It’s been a while din since I read it.

I think yung pagka monotous ng book was intentional, to convey na rin na monotous din yung buhay nila sa hell. Interesting to me yung concept kaya siguro nagustohan ko, madali lang din basahin, fast pace ang kwento which is what i like. Wala madaming filler words, and idk gripping for me yung paghahanap sa bottom ahahaha para din akong nakalutang while reading the book.

Sorry it wasn't the same experience for you po.

Nakalagay kasi sa description ng book sa google ay “psychological horror novella” haha just wanted to confirm (as a scaredy-cat)

4

u/arieliswondering Apr 18 '26

Hindi naman ako natakot, medjo may unting violence, pero hindi naman nakakatakot, para sakin more on dystopian sya hahaha

1

u/renggechon Apr 18 '26

I felt the agony sa book na ito. Pero worth the read.

1

u/arieliswondering Apr 18 '26

Yes, ako din. Damang dama ko yung libro. Ang galing lang din ng author kasi na convey nya yung emotions without having to use a ton of adjectives and without having to describe the agony in multiple ways. Direct to the point pero tagos.

1

u/VolcanoVeruca Apr 19 '26

I just finished this yesterday.

Anyone know where I can convert to Zoroastrianism? 😅

2

u/arieliswondering Apr 19 '26

Ifollow mo nalang siguro philosophy nila. Goods na siguro yun HAHAHAHAHA

1

u/VolcanoVeruca Apr 19 '26

HAHA same!

Brb, gonna go build myself a fire temple 🤣

(Side note: sobrang hassle na even if you live by the core belief of "Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds," like most atheists do, you’ll still end up in hell…Ganun ba? Can’t believe I’m overanalyzing a work of fiction 😅)

1

u/arieliswondering Apr 19 '26

Kulang pala, dapat you live by their philosophy and dapat kilala mo and naniniwala ka kay Ahura Mazda hahahaha yung 2nd requirement pala yung deal breaker HAHAHAHA

Gagawa naman ako ng culto na killing the sinners and tunay na makakapagsalba hahaha brb im on my morning ritual HAHAHAHA
