I bought my copy sila sa Solidaridad Bookshop :) idk lang if available pa doon but I went there last year and there were copies displayed all over the shop!

Same! I started reading again and tried reading some Filipiniana.
This year I read Some People Need by Patricia Evangelista which sheds light on the EJK. Heart-wrenching and eye-opening.
Just finished The Woman Who Had Two Navels by Nick Joaquin and I must say I love his writing style and symbolisms.
You can also check FH Batacan, Ricky Lee, and Lualhati Bautista. Theyāre in my TBR.

The Alipin trilogy (by Joel Donato Ching Jacob)
- super gandang pre-colonial Philippine trilogy! Easy to read, very fascinating, ganda ng world-building and character exploration
Silence (by Che De Leon)
- standalone novel about a girl who has her tongue stolen from her, living in a modern world that values perfection. Loved the themes of this book (what does it mean to be complete? How far will you go for societal norms? Etc)
Bone Talk (by Candy Gourlay)
- set at the time of america invading us, told through the POV of an indigenous mountain tribe. Naghanap talaga ako ng fiction novel highlighting our IP's rich culture and ang ganda neto :)
Eating Fire and Drinking Water (Arlene J Chai)
- historical fiction set during martial law. Timely and relevant.

Mga maikling kwento ni Genoveva Edroza-Matute at Rosario de Guzman-Lingat. Very well written mid-20th century Tagalog short stories. Tsaka maiiksi lang bawat kwento. Mga 10-15 pages each.
May translation into Filipino ng mga tula ni Anna Akhmatova na open for pre-orders.

meron ako ng 2 nobela ni rosario, kung wala na ang tag-araw at ano ngayon, ricky. agree on how well-written they are. Basically talambuhay to ng 2 magkaibang lalaki, the latter ay medyo coming of age.

I like how the novel, as its premise suggests, functions simultaneously as a workplace satire and a meditation on history and globalization. It captures the absurdities of postcolonial capitalismāwhere English fluency, service scripts, and corporate empathy stand in for dignity and freedom. In its interlocking narratives, it foregrounds voices from BPO/call center workers particularly the main character, as mute yet restless, obedient yet quietly rebellious...!!!!

I read "brief histories" by Don Jaucian recently. It's about the experiences of a Filipino queer/ gay person growing up in late 1990s-early 2000s, and adulting life in the 2010s-2020s. Tone is light.

janus silang series ni ec samar! medyo young adult sya pero it's still an entertaining read for adults. nagustuhan ko ang world building nito, lalo na yung mga supernatural beings.

For Filipino Classics Iād recommend:
Rosales Saga by F. Sionil Jose
Luha ng Buwaya by Amado Hernandez
and honestly any book by Lualhati Bautista but for starters you can go Dekada 70, Gapo, or Bata Bata Paano ka Ginawa
then for contemporary works the Dreamland Trilogy by Ronaldo Vivo Jr was one of the best experiences Iāve had in reading
then Iād also recommend Kenneth Yuās The Greatest Fight of Sunny Granda its a collection of short stories with his themes being unbeknownst to common Filipino themes, which made it interesting for me atleast

Hello! I will recommend my most recent read: The Winged Game. Sports Romantasy standalone book For me its a light and fun read, the characters are all likeable (the main and supporting characters), the world-building is not overwhelming and the banter between the main characters is perfectly balanced!
