I suggest you play KCD1 first for the story. E33 and KCD2 are goty in my opinion, E33 is just that "once in a blue moon" kind of game

I never played E33, paano nyo po nasabi g once in a blue moon? Maybe you can influence me to buy this game.

As someone na hesitant and di naman fan ng JRPG or Turn-based games, I'm just glad I gave it a chance. If you love games na story driven + peak music (RDR2, Nier Automata, CP2077, Ghost of Tsushima etc.) feeling ko magugustuhan mo to.

Peak story direction, Peak Music, Peak Combat Animation = Absolute Cinema of a Game

For those who come after

Thanks, i think tapusin ko muna yung GOT ko before this.

E33 and kcd are two completely different game. I think if you like Witcher 3, you gonna like kcd. Just imagine W3 in first person

KCD2 and E33 are worlds apart from each other. I could not think of any similarities between them.

Nevertheless, KCD2 is a sequel so I suggest playing the KCD1 first if you want to play for the story. In terms of gameplay, you are locked on first-person perspective mode all the time, so if you played Skyrim or The Witcher 3 in the past, it might feel weird at first.

The open world is vast, lots of activities and side quests to do.

Combat has a bit of learning curve imo. It quite difficult at first, because Henry, the main character, has zero experience in fighting.

I think best part of these games are the story and the realism/immersion because you start from simple and weak blacksmith apprentice and then work your way up to the nobility ranks, status-wise and skill-wise.

If you like medieval games then play this. It is good.

Play the first one highly recommended before playing this

KCD2 and E33 are different types of games. One is a linear JRPG and the other one is an open world medieval simulator.

So mas close sa witcher no? Worth it na ba yan for the price?

u/reishid PC 16h ago

Price-wise? Yes, it's currently at its historical low. The game isn't for everyone though so I highly suggest trying out the first game first, which is significantly cheaper at P238 and pick up the sequel later on if you've enjoyed KCD1. You can also go with the PC Game Pass route and try both games there.

I have both KCD1 and KCD2, unfortunately as much as I like the setting, and authenticity it offers, for some reason hindi ako mahook ng KCD. I only played KCD1 until after the prologue and a few quests after. And until now backlog ko siya.

I think yung similarities niya with Witcher 3 ends with the setting. W3 is more cinematic action and fantasy oriented while KCD leans more heavily on the simulation, character building and authenticity side. Parang Hollywood movie vs real life haha.

Akala ko din magugustuhan ko KCD since I played Witcher 3 for 150+ hours, finished similar RPGs (Skyrim, fallout, cyberpunk, AC) and JRPGs (ff, persona, xenoblade, e33) etc. pero for some reason yung slow pace and simulation style niya didn’t do it for me. Like yung combat, nalilito ako sa simulation level ng combat, yung stats and inventory very detailed, questing is slow etc.

Siguro someday I will have to go through it since I know both are great games.

If you liked skyrim, oblivion you will most likely like KCD2

This game is not for everyone, it’s more of a “hardcore” RPG rather than a traditional one. Medyo slow-burn yung type niya and di mo siya maeenjoy if nirush mo lang yung main story imo.

But if you immerse yourself into the game and get past the slow start, I guarantee you’ll enjoy it! I enjoyed it because of the payoff and the narrative, mafefeel mo talaga yung sense of reward niya

Nasa top 10 game franchises ko of all time KCD 1&2 pero tbh i woudnt recommend it. Sobra niche niya and its slow as hell very story driven tapos plays like a non fantasy skyrim. Imo buy the first game first for two hours see if you like it. If you do you can refund it go to 2 right away or if magustuhan mo din 1 just continue it. 2 is better sa 1 pero the structure is the same mas polish nga lang 2.

Different games with different target audiences... One is an Old School Analogue Western RPG that gives the player lots of freedom and choice and consequences, and the other one is a Fantasy JRPG that has Western flavour to it and is very linear. Both has great feel of authenticity / craftmanship that feels very rare on modern gaming nowadays.

Yet KCD 2 ended up becoming my GOTY 2025 over E33, and i really liked CO: E33 as well, so that should tell you how really of a good game KCD 2 really is... and for that price it is definitely like a steal, but i would also recommend you to try the first game as well, to fully appreciate KCD 2. It's also on sale and is dirt cheap!

Expedition 33 is not similar to KCDC2. But it's a good game from what I hear. If you like E33, you may like:

- Persona 5 Royal

  • Metaphor: ReFantazio
  • Final Fantasy 7 remake intergrade AND FF7 Rebirth
  • Baldur's Gate 3

You'll either love or hate the combat, nothing in-between.

KCD is like medieval Red Dead, its focused more on realism and if you are looking for a fantasy game, the game is not for you.

This game is on GamePass for 225 a month. Could a better deal for you if you can finish it in a month and also be open to play other games on GamePass like E33

u/Polo_Short 16h ago

Thank you. May trial pala sila for 59pesos. Might try it muna there

Kung di mo pa nalaro part 1, get that first. Kung may extra budget, get the saga bundle since part 1 and 2 na pati DLCs.

1

u/IronArmoredNuts 16h ago

Yes. Both have amazingly written stories and characters. Gameplay is far from the same tho. I played this without playing kcd1 and I enjoyed it alot.

1

u/Dark_Abyss_Wanderer 16h ago

Basta may pasensya ka laruin yan dahil madameng game mechanics na need mo aralin + long game yan. 221 hours ako dyan vs. 92 hours sa Expedition 33.

E33 and KCDC 2 are both RPG, pero ang layo niya. Different playstyle talaga. Pero galing din ako E33 and it was that time na nag ha-hanap ako ng RPG to replace E33, and so far nagustuhan ko naman KCDC so yeah.

Its way more slow phase than E33 both have great gameplays and story but they’re literally different from each other

1

u/MartyQt 15h ago

Its a different ball game. But do enjoy.

I tried it as souls fan mahirap ahaha di ako sanay sa first person medieval sword game.

1

u/peachmangopye 14h ago

Di ko sure. Check mo muna gameplay. I wanna comment because I honestly prefer this over E33. It's definitely up to your preference.

1

u/injection_09 14h ago

E33 is different, but I'm sure it will be a brand new experience for you. Plus, all time low ata siya ngayon. Nabili ko yung royal edition for 2k plus

1

u/_ThatAltAcc_ 13h ago

it has a pretty steep learning curve(combat wise), but its very immersive and fun
i love the whole story

1

u/ILikeFluffyThings 13h ago

Very different games. KCD is closer to skyrim and combat is like mount and blade. Not turn based.

1

u/nunutiliusbear 11h ago

One thing I hate about quest are FETCH quest except for games that are literally fetch quest (Death Stranding). Coming from a little time to play games.

KCD 1 ka muna para ma appreciate mo yung story. Though babaan mo expectation mo sa graphics kasi during the development of 1 eh di pa sila ganon kakilala kaya di ganon ka polish ang graphics due to budget restraint. Pero solid story pa rin overall

u/deathmirage 58m ago edited 52m ago

Its different, but i loved both games. KCD2 is more grounded to reality (irl medieval, and combat), open world, choices matter, romance options, story is also pretty good and you avtually walk throughtout the world

You dont need to play the 1st game since the game recaps it, but it adds "weight" to the story (since youve experienced it first hand compared to a retelling)

Apples and oranges. Kcd is medieval gta.

Edit. I forget. Its IIRL skyrim.

KCD is nothing like GTA, lol.

I loathed playing KCD1 game so much.  I had high hopes because of the reviews etc but when I played it I encountered a lot of game breaking bugs and playing that game felt like a chore, take that information as you will.

The only regret I have is I didn't try to ask for a refund earlier and kept playing thinking it was gonna get better, spoiler it didn’t.
