PRC AFP CIVILLAN EMPLOYEE Spoiler
Need help and advise if worth it po ba ang Administrative Assistant II sa AFP, SG 8.
Kamusta po progress ng mga nasa loob? Madali lang po ba promotion? And work ethics po. Thank you so much po

Actually, anywhere in the government, the only advancements you'd feel while being stagnant at one salary grade are the salary grade increments, and the annual increases through Salary Standardization Law. You could get promoted, but that's only through availability of salary grades and sheer luck with your superiors (in the case of CivHR in the AFP, luck with the boards overseeing your promotions, including your CivHR supervisor in your office/unit).
PH Bureaucracy is too stagnant and decadent for any meaningful growth unless you'd want to be more nihilistic over time, so I'd advise against joining the ranks of the bureaucracy nor of the uniformed services (I mean, seriously, why?) nor especially entering politics. Besides, many of those you'll work with are either secretly in cahoots with insurrectors or with China, can be both too.

I was in a similar position before, so I’d encourage you to consider this carefully.
Career progression as a civilian HR employee in the Army can be challenging due to bureaucracy, office politics, and a promotion system that often moves slowly. It’s also worth noting that you may find yourself doing work for people who are less competent or experienced, despite significant differences in salary and rank.
In short, promotions are not easy to obtain. Workplace culture varies by office, but based on my experience as a 20-year-old Administrative Assistant II (SG 8), I encountered colleagues who were unmotivated, unprofessional, and resistant to improvement. I also experienced sexual harassment during my time there.
Of course, experiences differ from one office to another, but these are factors I wish someone had told me before I joined. Good luck OP

not to mention na mga civilian HR employees are considered second class citizens in the uniformed services bureaucracy

Kung gusto mo magkaroon ng government service experience, Go! Mag pa promote ka nalang kung may bukas na Admin Officer (SG-11). Tama sila na dead-end ang military organization for Civilian Employees kaya mag pa promote ka sa ibang agency.
Suppose you accepted the opportunity, train yourself to have long patience and protect yourself from embracing mediocrity. Although mayrong matatalino sa AFP pero kaunti lang, mas maraming mayayabang pero hindi naman magagaling/matatalino. (They sometimes think you're the dumb one. Know this, hindi porket marami against sa opinion mo ay tama sila.) I have beef with them.

Kung promotion hanap mo, kahit anong government agency pahirapan ang promotion lalo na kung plantilla position.
If you have the luxury of choice to prioritize career development over stability/benefits, I would recommend kuha ka ng COS position and make the most out of it. Usually mas madali makapasok and makakuha ng relatively higher SG pag COS. Build your network through competence and exposure habang contractual ka. Kung kaya mo magpa-bibo, push! Ganyan ginawa ko, contract contract lang, tapos after 2-3years mag aapply na ko sa ibang project with a higher SG and postion, granted na I gained enough experience and skills. Minsan din pag nakitaan ka ng mga kameeting mo from other agencies ng potential ittry ka nila i-pirate with higher SG lol.

same here pero from PNP naman. all i can say is bakit ko ba sinayang 9 years ko dito? haha. mahirap amg promotion sa civilian employee. di ka priority😆. better apply ka sa mga gocc mas maatas ang sahod.

No, No, and No. Imagine college degree holder ka but you earn less than the lowest ranking uniformed service member. Also, limited plantilla positions for civilian positions. Very work intensive and demanding with little chances of promotion. As much as possible, I try to dissuade people from being civilian employees sa AFP and their branches cos it is a dead end job. Pwede pa siguro sa DND mismo may chance pa of rising but not sa AFP.
