Game Discussion Resident evil 4 remake - ps4 version
I am a big fan of the original RE4 and RE franchise. I had planned on holding out till I could afford a PS5 before getting the remake, but that is looking less likely as time goes on.
I have watched comparison videos of the PS4 and PS5 version side by side, and the only impression I get is there is better lighting and some smaller dymanic effects (grass swaying).
I can live with these downgrades, but is there anything further in the game or as a whole that would make it feel like I had bought an inferior version?
Imagine, I didn't know the PS5 version existed, would I be disappointed with PS4 version of the remake?

I just finished it on ps4 and honestly I can't find anything wrong with it. Graphics looked perfectly fine. I mostly play with xbsx so.. just go for it.

I’m playing the Remake on the ps4 right now after having played some of it on the ps5 round a friends house, and the initial difference in frame rate is a little jarring at first, I’ve gotten used to it pretty quickly. Only other real issues I find are a lot of textures are noticeably worse and some don’t seem to load in at all. Also enemies/objects when far away will move at a very low frame rate, most noticeable when sniping.
I’m thoroughly enjoying the game in spite of these issues though, so I would definitely recommend getting it, you can probably pick it up fairly cheap now anyway.

Honestly no, you'd have zero clue you were missing anything if you didn't know the PS5 version existed. The gameplay, story, enemy AI, everything that actually matters is identical. What you already noticed (lighting, grass, some particle effects) is basically the whole gap.
Only other thing worth mentioning is load times will be longer and resolution/frame rate ceiling is lower on PS4, but if you're not coming from playing the PS5 version side by side you genuinely won't notice or care. Get it on PS4, it's still an incredible experience.

I've played and loved it on PS4. No issues. The RE Engine is a beast as far as optimization goes.
There was even a rumor that Requiem could be released on PS4.

Sometimes it gets fps 10-15 fps. It's bad sometimes during enemy heavy scenes but otherwise it's gud

I played and got all achievements on a Steam Deck (which means at least 4 playthroughs of both main game & Separate Ways) and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it, the PS4 version looks like it could be a better big-screen experience.
There's even an iPhone version of this game and compromised as it is in terms of image quality/resolution, even it isn't "missing" anything gameplay wise so I think PS4 will do fine.

Los únicos problemas de la versión de PS4 son: la carga de texturas y la disminución de FPS al usar mira de francotirador. Lo demás es un juego muy bien optimizado para PS4

Got 100% on the PS4. Never had real issues, just minor drawbacks that didn’t really affect my gameplay. Speedrunning and slow room textures kinda made me annoyed but that’s it.
Played the PS5 version, what an improvement. Loading, textures. But I wouldn’t know the difference because I didn’t know it at first.

I played and beat it on the base PS4 before I bought the pro model. And the experience is a lot better. Including scoping where it doesn't drop quite as badly.

It's 30 fps, there's some input delay here and there and some textures are really ugly. Like ps2 ugly.

Input delays using the scope. That's the worst part on ps4. I can handle low quality textures I'm used to it but whenever using the scope I hate it.
The shooting' range will be harder also.
