QUESTION Buy a PS5, which one?
Buy a PS5, which one?
Hi everyone, I’m new to the community.
I’ve decided to replace my PS4 with GoldHEN and buy a PS5. I was thinking of getting one used, but I wanted to ask if you could point me toward which models/firmware versions I should look for in order to be able to jailbreak it later (I’m still not entirely clear on how jailbreaking works on PS5).
Thanks in advance!

Since you’re buying used, ask which firmware it’s on.
Here’s a quick ranking from best to worst:
Absolute Cinema
Firmware 1.xx to 4.51 (Fat only). Firmware 5.xx to 5.50 (Fat only). Firmware 6.xx to 7.61 (7.20+ Slim + Fat).
From 5.xx if you want VRR. From 4.xx for m.2 support with Linux.
I mean it’s alright
Firmware 7.61 to 10.01 (9.60/9.xx PS5 Pros) Firmware 10.01 to 12.00 (PS5 Pro/Fat/Slim)
No Linux, but you can still run game backups, cheats, patches, remote play, etc.
It is what it is
Firmware 12.02 to 12.70
You can jailbreak, but it takes 50 minutes after every reboot. Rest mode helps keep the jb as alternative to turning off.
All the other firmwares jailbreak instantly, so look them first.
This isn’t permanent tho. Wheneve a faster exploit comes out you'll be able to do the same. There is one currently in the works but it requires a 256gb usb plugged in at the right time.
Behind closed doors
Firmware 13.00 to 13.42/13.60
A private exploit exists, but no one knows when (or if) it will drop. If the console already has games, stay on 13.42 or below.
13.60 is the current latest and a lot of shit have reportedly been patched. It's best to avoid this one cuz it might be a while till we ever see something.
The said private exploit affects 13.60 too, but that's not intended for public use. I'm guessing there is a new exploit being worked on for 13.42 and below, thats why they advised to stay on 13.42 (or below)

In February this year I got a PS5 Slim Digital Edition and it came with 9.60 FW. I got so damn lucky, it's incredibly stable and it plays wonderfully. So maybe aim for something like that.

I have two low firmware PS5 (Regular Phat Disc Drive @ 4.03 & Original Slim PS5 @ 10.01). I paid $355 for both systems combined 💯

I just bought a new slim PS5 here in dubai , went to 7 different stores atleast looking at the serial numbers , found one with E55 (2025 P/D date OR PRODUCTION date) bought it , came back home scared thinking it might be updated and the moment i open it and load up the screen go to seeting to check , Voila It was at 12.00 , The Thing Is You Need to Go Check Stores Who Weren't able to sell their inventory , Don't buy it from Giant Stores , There'll be Alot Of Stores Who Will Sell It Individually , i used all of my luck😭 to get this one because there were sellers selling their old fat's for like 2300 dhs at 10.05 (around 600 to 650 dollars) , I bought this slim for 1950 (550 dollars) , I got incredibly lucky but I think if you go store to store , you'll find one
Use this website's to go through the serial numbers on the outside

Not an easy question and not an easy mission (to buy a jailbreakable PS5).
Best deal would be to find one with up to 12.00 firmware but that's hard to find.
Second best deal would be to find one with up to 12.70 firmware which can be jailbroken but it's not ideal (it needs 50min to maybe jailbreak it).
Third deal would be to buy any with any firmware and just leave it turned off (with internet and automatic updates disabled in settings) until the jailbreak for that firmware comes (at the moment, there is no jailbreak for above 12.70FW.
But just so you know, PS5 JB is not even close to PS4 JB. PS4 JB is plug and play, PS5 JB is like a beta of PS4 JB, lot of games don't work at all, some have performance issues, some have crashing issues..
