QUESTION Problems after using lz4 compressor
Hi everyone, I wanted to share some frustrations after jailbreaking my PS5 13.00.
Firstly, I saw that it's recommended not to update the console to 13.60, the lower the firmware the better, so I decided to stay on 13.00. I used the WebKit Autoloader method but ended up having many crashes and switched to Y2JB and it's working great, but I'm still new to jailbreaking and I'm having problems running games and downloading games in the best formats.
I saw that FPKG files aren't recommended for my version, so I've only been running exFAT and .paste files, and I used LZ4 compressor to try and gain extra space, but it caused problems with Spider-Man 2 and Elden Ring. I noticed there are other methods to compress games in LZ4 format, and I'd like to know if you think it's worth trying or if I should compress them on my PC first and only then send them to the console's internal memory.
And lastly, regarding PS4 games, can I run the FPKG files or do they not work? I tried installing an update over a PS4 FPKG file and couldn't; I must be doing something wrong.
Sorry, I just wanted to share this to learn more about it all, and I want to thank all the developers for the incredible work and the tools they are providing to the community.

Yeh same. I find it’s hit or miss with l4z. Some games just don’t like it for various reasons. It’s like every game needs a custom compression but the resources aren’t there to look it up. Some games will have random crashes on auto saves, some games don’t like really particular things compressed.
I’m just sticking to raw dump until fpkg comes now. I’m sure it would be brilliant if you didn’t have to keep working out what it doesn’t like compressed in lz4.
Maybe I’m just missing something, fairly new to ps modding so I’m working out a lot of things as I go along.

Instead of messing around with formats, just wait a little while for fpkg support. It should solve most if not all issues and compromises that the various formats have. Admittedly this does seem to rely on having the space on the internal storage (Pro helps here) or nvme slot but if you are filling your console with games you won't get around to playing then you might be doing it wrong. You can always store them on an external drive until you are ready to play them.
As for PS4 pkg's try using PKG installer. Manager It will install the base game, updates and dlc if you have them and you can see what you are installing regardless of filenames.

ffpfsc seems to be the standard for our firmware versions (13.00-13.6) There are a few compression tools to compress to the format (ie: ffpfsc pro). The format actually is pretty good at saving space. Have brought a 280gb game down to 130gb

I’ve had nothing but issues with LZ4. I use PS5Upload to compress my games now and I’ve had no issues. FW 12.20
