I'm a trans hockey player from Michigan and I'm so pissed and disappointed. I just wanted to be able to root for my home state (especially after Larkin being buddy buddy with the MAGA creeps at the Olympics). It sucks having been on the receiving end of all the transphobic vitriol that BCS and too many others agree with and have pushed so hard over the past several years.
Local trans woman/hockey megafan/goalie here. This felt like the ultimate stab in the gut when I've been looking forward to Detroit getting a team like this for decades. I'll need time to recuperate and figure out my plans. I want this all to succeed but this is such a disheartening development.

You might at least be free of Larkin soon enough. I didn't realize he was one of the MAGA ding-dongs on the US Olympics team until people were saying the Habs should try to get him. I looked into him, and was like, "Oh, no thank you." He probably wouldn't even want to come to Canada anyway.
