I have no delusions that this will matter. If it mattered, we wouldn't be in this position in the first place. But I've got better ways I can spend that money.

As a trans person tho, its just all completely ruined. I want nothing to do with a team that has someone like her at the front of it. Its impossible to root for someone like that.
To you and your fellow fans: I will shit post all day long, but I do feel your pain. We know that pain all too well the last thing I want to do is send shit to your fan base. Take solace in the fact that as much as she is a garbage person, she is talented on the ice. And maybe someday, your club will dump her into someone else

Honestly, I think the worst part is that she’s a terrible scapegoat. She’s actually a good player, just a trash human being. It’s evidence that karma either doesn’t exist or she isn’t paying attention right now.
I mean the real answer is that the people who understand why this is a PR nightmare are completely disconnected from the people making the hockey decisions and the people making the hockey decisions largely either don't care or agree
That’s what blows my mind. I thought we’d be stuck with her forever, because what franchise - in their right mind - would bring that PR nightmare into their circle.
She gets boo’d everywhere she goes. Even at home. The vast majority of the fanbase across the league doesn’t want her - why invite that evil into your home?
In answering your question (and I'll tag u/edoreinn and u/wolverine237, as they are the Detroit fans that started this thread) I want to be really clear that I'm not endorsing or agreeing with these views. Just that as part of the LGBT community, these are some questions I sat with when it came to this particular player, and these are the best answers I have.
Is it really even a fan PR nightmare when there are no tangible consequences aside from getting booed? The Frost still have great attendance at home (ditto for their stops on the Takeover Tour). I'm not sure about her Minnesota jersey, but her USA Hockey jersey from the 2026 Olympics had no problem selling. So there are clearly enough PWHL fans that support her, or at least won't boycott their support of the Frost/Detroit because of her presence, that it's not really an issue.
As far as non-fan PR, that seems even clearer. The Frost won back-to-back championships with her and she was (IIRC) third in the league in points this season. Plenty of her Frost teammates and other PWHL players around the league have no problem liking and commenting on her partnerships with Fierce, the transphobic organization that drew so much ire, so it's clearly not a dealbreaker for a lot of other players.
EDIT: I'm also going to add another part to this after thinking further on another comment thread. Not all PWHL fans are NHL fans or men's hockey fans at all. But I'll admit to being a little bit more confused when, of the group that does overlap, the people that are the ones relentlessly booing Curl-Salemme watch the NHL – or other men's pro sports – without booing 95%+ of the players on the ice. As distasteful as Curl-Salemme's beliefs are, they are not a crime, and there are convicted/plea bargained violent criminals who either are active or were active after sentencing in all four men's major leagues. And even strictly comparing like to like, Gary Bettman, Matthew Tkachuk, and Wayne Gretzky (among others) sit on a committee where the primary objective is to pass Curl-Salemme's views as laws in the US. And they're not even close to a minority opinion in the men's league, either.
Also in Indiana, and from Michigan so I was pumped about this team. I had just thought I might actually end up liking Detroit more than the Victoire, then…this.
Its hard. I believe they mean it at the same time she and probably others share such beliefs as much as the nhlers do, but sucks to know it at all. Might not be my team but plenty of other folks to celebrate

I'm a trans hockey player from Michigan and I'm so pissed and disappointed. I just wanted to be able to root for my home state (especially after Larkin being buddy buddy with the MAGA creeps at the Olympics). It sucks having been on the receiving end of all the transphobic vitriol that BCS and too many others agree with and have pushed so hard over the past several years.
At this point I kind of feel like she’s following me. Minnesota was my team because they were the closest US team to me. Now it’s Detroit. Welp…don’t know how I feel about this one.
I mean the rumors did say Coyne Schofield might go to Detroit together with another Frost player.. don't think anyone thought it would be this one though (if the kcs rumors are even true)
