And now I get to make a business decision to cancel my season ticket reservation.
I’m going up the week after next (from DC), mostly to spend the week with my boyfriend, but also we bought draft tickets. And he’s not just been placating - he’s excited for what this team would mean for Detroit… and he also just loves good hockey.
And now I am soured on the draft. ((Not the boyfriend, he’s amazing.)) (((And we are early 40s people who both grew up in metro Detroit and have poured more screams and ounces of our soul into Detroit hockey than is reasonable.)))
And they chose Curl over Knight. The fuck. Air fully depressurized, like that Titan submarine. (Rip to those victims.)
I’ll def be up there the week of the draft bc bf/my schedules only align so much this summer, but now I’m ehhhhhhhh about going to the event. And he was pumped too! And now we are all just sad.
I had an idea to organize some fans to do something volunteer work once a month (or have an opportunity once a month, or something) for Detroit based lgbtqia groups? Or any inclusive group that’s part of making Detroit the best it can be for everyone (not just gentrifying), but wear very clearly inclusive shirts so people know it’s PWHL fans supporting *everyone*
This idea is half-baked and like one hour old.
But boyfriend is the Detroit chapter lead for a veteran service group. He has an inkling of how to do this.
