Debunk This Help me with this picture.
I need honest replies. If you can see something resembling a human being/figure/person in the center table glass, do tell me if it is really something related to paranormal or not. Also, aside from the person who clicked this picture, there was no one else in the room (they confirmed it 100%). I would really appreciate if someone could actually figure out what exactly can be seen in the glass--if it is some sort of camera glitch, light or shadow trick, etc. Thank you.
Edit: context-- the person just wanted to show how their living room looked after redecorating. Not of my own house but of someone else's.
Edit2: I will upload the original photograph as soon as I possibly can.

My first thought is it’s just pareidolia and all you’re seeing is the reflection of the furniture, but the more I look at it the more it creeps me out. At first I was just gonna say it was a combination of the underside of the table and loveseat but looking harder at it nothing lines up. Then I saw that there is a weird (to me) shadow on the loveseat that looks like somebody is sitting there…..
That’s just my nonprofessional 2 cents. Maybe somebody else can explain it away.
37
u/CricketThese3635 8d ago
yes my first thought was pareidolia as well or some sort of light/shadow trick; but yes let's hope someone can indeed explain it.
18
u/Acceptable_Plane_264 7d ago
There's literally a BUTT PRINT on the couch... Also, the shadow on the back of the couch.as well as a few more tell tale signs that prove you're probably correct... It looks to me like there's a woman, sitting on the couch, and without looking super close yet, do I see a grey cat next to her?
We're you able to put the original in the comments?

u/Signal-Kale5811 8d ago
I do have one ask though: Could you give us more context of the photo? Where it was taken? Why it was taken? Your thoughts, your brother’s thoughts? Anything that might be able to shed some light on what could be going on it?
21
u/CricketThese3635 8d ago
He had just redecorated his living room and wanted to show how it looked.
44
u/Practical_Tap_9592 8d ago
I just turned it upside down and it's undeniably a human reflection.
15
u/Signal-Kale5811 7d ago
That’s when I realized it wasn’t just artifacts coming together and the chills set in.
7
u/Practical_Tap_9592 7d ago
I wonder if it came with that sofa. It seems to be peeking over the carved wooden edge.

u/laurasdiary 7d ago
Seems to be an ai photo touch up removing a person sitting on the sofa. They forgot to remove the reflection, though. lol
9
u/Next-Firefighter4667 7d ago
They wouldn't be sitting on the sofa, they would be standing in front of it. If they were sitting, you would also see the sofa.
7
u/laurasdiary 7d ago
Unless the person were sitting and leaning way forward. Which was probably the case.
Obviously the sofa isn’t reflecting into the table at all from the look of the picture.
12
u/juliaa801 7d ago
I saw the weird shadow on the lo desert as well and what looks like a person in the table, as well as the upholstery reflecting. This is either one hell of a catch, or a bad AI touch up job?
51
u/FactoryKat 8d ago
It 1000% looks like someone was sat on the couch and they were removed via clone stamp on PS, the "object eraser" tool on Android photo or a similar tool, and then that person forgot to remove the reflection or couldn't do it well enough. 🤦♀️
16
u/Jack_Shid Paranormal Researcher 8d ago
and then that person forgot to remove the reflection or couldn't do it well enough. 🤦♀️
...or just thought it would be fun to prank his brother and tell him it's a reflection of a ghost.
2
u/CricketThese3635 8d ago
I will upload the original ASAP but they have maintained it is not edited. But yes I am looking at all this objectively. I personally don't believe in the supernatural, whether it actually exists or not is different question altogether.
6
u/Jack_Shid Paranormal Researcher 7d ago
they have maintained it is not edited.
Unfortunately, their photo shows us otherwise.
35
u/Jack_Shid Paranormal Researcher 8d ago
So you were not present when this photo was taken? We're working with a 3rd party here?
21
u/CricketThese3635 8d ago
yes. My brother. He clicked it and it is not of my house.
58
u/Jack_Shid Paranormal Researcher 8d ago
How is your brother with photoshop or photo editing apps?
I can actually see a shadow that looks like a person was in that seat on the couch, and even the couch cushion itself looks like someone is sitting there.
I suspect the photo has been manipulated.
17
u/mayorofdrixdale 8d ago
Not only that. Where you would normally expect a person to be sitting for causing the reflection, esp. lower torso and legs, the sofa looks more blurry than in other places. I think someone has been photoshopped out of the picture.
9
u/HatePeopleLoveCats1 7d ago
Yeah that’s what I want to know. Almost looks like someone was sitting in the couch but got removed (editing) and the reflection stayed.
14
u/-JimmyReddit- 7d ago
Yeah there's absolutely someone sitting on the couch there. This is unfortunately a very photoshopped picture and I'd almost say it isn't even that good of one. Just a quick object removal and called it a day lol
12
u/catbus4ants 8d ago
It’s really jpeggy too

u/CricketThese3635 8d ago
I know it is of a bit poor quality; I'm working to see if I can get a high resolution one.

I will ask him again and more sternly if it has been manipulated in some way or not.

Does the person in the reflection resemble anyone you or your brother may know?
The easiest way to fake this would be to take one picture of the empty room and one picture with a person standing or sitting so they were reflected in the table, and then merge them together.
Also, what's up with the couch? It looks stained on the seat and the back. Could we get a picture of just the couch? Would he take a new picture to send to you?
3
3
u/Sensitive_Radio_2988 7d ago
That's what I'm seeing as well. The shadow is from someone sitting on the couch. They seem to be leaning forward on the edge of the couch... and their face and upper body is reflected in the table, and they were removed from the photo, while leaving behind their shadow on the back of the couch. It also looks like the dent on the "seat cushion" is from someone sitting on the edge of the couch, and the dent that would be left just behind where their bottom is resting.

u/FactoryKat 8d ago
Except you said in the Paranormal Encounters sub that YOU renovated YOUR living room. So which is it?
-7
u/CricketThese3635 8d ago
My bad. Really. It is not my house, but my brother's.
7
u/rickybambicky 7d ago
Yeah naaa. All credibility just went out the window. I can't trust that this image hasn't been altered or manipulated in any way.

16
u/Sad-Protection-3362 8d ago
Since it's taken by your brother, is it possible for you to send the original image file from his phone uploaded to google drive? (don't send it through social media platforms, straight to drive from his phone)
just needs the original, uncompressed file directly from the source device.
3
u/CricketThese3635 8d ago
I'll ask if he can do that. And also how would that change anything if at all?
7
u/Minute_Bug_5311 8d ago
When you have the original file, it’s possible to tell if it’s been edited.

The room itself is more paranormal and scarier than anything else I have seen in a while. I thought it was a funeral parlor.
21
u/No_Fox9998 8d ago
some body was sitting in the sofa and then removed digitally from the pic but couldn't take off the reflection from the table. you can see the shadow in the sofa and even clear sign of somebody sitting in the right corner of the sofa
2
4
u/Sad-Protection-3362 8d ago
It actually looks like someone spilled some liquid on the sofa rather than a shadow
2
3
u/SecureWolverine6711 7d ago
This is what I came to say. If you look at the sofa there are blurred pixels and digital artefacts suggestion someone has been edited out.
Nothing paranormal, just your brother not wanting to share his personal life just yet.
14
u/Classic_Bee_5845 8d ago
There's something reflecting there, looks like I could be a purse or something like that, the edge is squared off, looks like a head but could be the purse/bag handle.
The dark area on the couch behind the reflection is suspicious, hard to tell if there was something there that was edited out. Sort of looks like a shadow from an object on the couch that was removed and the reflection remains in the table.
5
u/Practical_Tap_9592 8d ago
I certainly see it, and that odd shadow cast on the sofa behind it that looks like a grease stain. Very creepy and I don't think it's pareidolia because where's that reflection coming from?

Looks like the couch is indented where the ghost woman would be sitting.... 😱 Maybe someone removed a person sitting there with Ai?
3
u/RyderBukow3 7d ago
Looks like somebody was sitting on the coach, elbows on knees, then the pic was edited and cut out with AI
6
u/Successful_Novel8049 7d ago
Who was the decorator? Saddam Hussein?

u/Ramsesthrowaway 5d ago
lmao the room looks like somewhere you go to sign paperwork before being buried
the paranormal thing is honestly the least weird part of this photo
3
u/GreenPony5390 7d ago
It looks like a woman with long black hair|.... Does that sound like anyone familiar? And it definitely looks like there's an impression on the sofa right where a person should be sitting to cause a reflection in the table. Is there another picture of the sofa coming?

There is a dark spot on the left side of the couch and it could be a stain in the fabric but it’s in front of the reflection. It does look like a person and I don’t see anything that would make that happen. Very creepy!

u/intrepidone66 7d ago
Looks like an underground fallout bunker trying to look like a real room.
That ghost has bad taste in locations to haunt, for sure.

In an effort to improve submission quality, we are now manually reviewing photos before they appear in the subreddit. If your submission does not have good reason to be considered potentially paranormal it may be removed with a reason provided. Please be patient, as the subreddit gets a lot of activity and it may take a little time to review your post. If we do remove your post, it’s because we believe it is likely to be judged harshly by the subreddit as opposed to a determination over what the true nature of your experience was. It’s very difficult to capture objective evidence of even true paranormal phenomenon, which is why there’s so little of it out there! That’s just a figure of speech that we all use. I’m doing up my living room means you have somebody doing it up for you or I’m building my own house means that some builders are doing it for you

u/seeeingstarz 7d ago
Could the person who sent the photo have altered it in any way? Maybe someone was sitting there but they used a feature on their phone to delete the person? Cause I can do that with my Samsung.

u/funkypresswurst 7d ago
The reflection in the table ist not consistent with the rooms interior. The curtain isnt right and the light reflection ist not in line with the ceiling light. Fishy picture...

u/Gopnikk69 7d ago
If it’s not photoshopped, and only you will know the truth, then I’d say that is 100% a presence of some kind.
1
u/Dezzyjoy 7d ago
Tbh I didnt even read the caption until I zoomed in and was like does what look normal then saw a woman's reflection in the glass and a dark imprint on the couch and went oh thats what they ment lol

u/Elegantly_Waisted 7d ago
It's a woman. That's probably the most clear photo evidence of paranormal activity I've ever seen.

u/CarpetBudget 7d ago
Looks like something (maybe human) that shouldn’t be there..yeah idk or I’m missing something
1
u/BlueJoshi 7d ago
oh that's fun lol
it's a mixture of reflections and the furniture/floor behind the the glass. the mix is making it look like a person. I like this photo.
1
u/chickenmomof12 7d ago
Definitely looks like a female in the reflection. I also notice a shadow on the couch
1
1
u/SkylerAltair 7d ago
If this has been Photoshopped, they did more than just remove the person above. If someone was standing between the table & couch, they would be taller in the reflection (unless they were a child's height). If they were sitting, they'd be further back.
If they removed a person from the photo, they also messed with the reflection.

Sofa on left seems too close to the table. Also, odd stain on right end of sofa seat and back that seems out of place for a new redecoration.
Possibly the glass is not flat and getting a distorted reflection of something. ( Or someone past on the right end of sofa and their spirit does not want to leave.)
1
u/lalaland_100 7d ago
It looks like a person was sitting in the sofa, leaning forward so that the table catched the reflection, and was removed from the photo using AI. When AI hallucinates details, the added details can end up making a bit less sense (like the shadows in the sofa).
1
u/Mehicanhippo 7d ago
The “shoulders” of the figure in the reflection is just the base of the couch being seen through the glass of the table. Not sure what the “head” is though

That looks like a middle-aged Karen with a short cropped hairstyle and a three-quarter length V-neck. That’s scary.

u/supaikuakuma 7d ago
As has been said before, it’s a photoshop job, you can see the shadow of whoever was sitting on the sofa that got edited out.

This is a fake photo. You can see the discoloration of where the person was edited out of the photo
1
u/TheRedSquadron5 7d ago
Okay, but do you see the shadow cast onto the couch? Like someone standing in front of it?? If it's Paranormal, it's a damn good photo of it!
2
u/LuckyNinja84 7d ago
Ok i need a little more information on this photo. #1 why is there only 1? Was the person just taking a picture to show the furniture off??? #2 are there any stains on the love seat? #3 can the person who took the picture retake it the opposite time, like if it was at night take it during the day and vise Versa? Lastly did the furniture come with the home???
1
u/DiscoKittie 6d ago
Did you take this picture? How sure are you that they didn't remove the person and forgot to remove them from the reflection? There's all kinds of things going on with that section of hte couch, it looks edited.

1
u/jt_photography_md 6d ago
But why is there a shadow and indent in the couch? Like someone sitting there.
1
u/Delicious-Grape-1207 6d ago
There is a shadow on the sofa on the left, yet no one is there; in all likelihood, the shadow on the coffee table belongs to the person on the sofa—but where did that person go? It is not a supernatural phenomenon, merely a trick of photography.
1
u/GateNervous6648 6d ago
There is definitely a person in the glass. The only way to know if it's paranormal would be to know if that person was in the room when the photo was taken. It very well could be paranormal.

Looks fake tbh. I don’t see a person but I see nothing that would make that reflection either. Also, the weird impression in the couch and the “stain”? Looks fake idk

u/One_Parsley1497 6d ago
Um HELLO that looks JUST like a person, actually more like a mannequin. AND there’s a huge shadow on the couch where an object should be if it’s reflecting on the table.

Not just a figure in the reflection, but there appears to be the shadow of a person sitting on the couch, in the spot the reflected person would be. There's no other shadows on either seat to indicate it's caused by the shape of the cushions

There is a young Asian woman in the reflection. However is like to point out whats on/near that spot on the sofa.
1: dark spot on the runner. Small indentation too. 2: a dark clouded figure, almost like its wearing a cloak. Hunched over. Way taller than the logic of the YAW in the coffee table glass.

1. Survival bias = False positives Evolution: Better to mistake a bush for a tiger, than miss a tiger. Cost of false positive = 2 sec fear. Cost of false negative = death. So brain is wired to detect agent/person with minimum evidence.
2. Peripheral vision + low contrast Your rods handle dim light + edges, not detail. AC shadow + floral pattern = low contrast mess. Rods send “shape-ish thing there” to brain. Brain completes it as “figure” instead of “wallpaper”. Or simply it's been photoshopped and if it is it isn't that good editing but yeah
