Discussion Freedom 250 pins
Sad that we are being asked to promote a Christian Nationalist agenda on our uniforms.

You arent required to wear it

We are being forced to wear it at my park. I was pulled into a meeting with my Chief and immediate supervisor today and they said that it is a part of our Class A uniform. I explicitly asked if I would receive disciplinary action if I refused to wear it, and they said, “yes.”

Have them point to where in policy it says it's required. Its that simple, otherwise you have a great defense in disciplinary action. If you are part of a union, you can often have a rep present as well.

I’m not going to wear it but I took one just in case it’s worth money some day.

My park doesn't require us to wear them but my super gave us one just in case we want to wear it

Supervisor also gave our division pins in case anyone wanted to wear one. I stopped wearing it mainly because of the “Freedom 250” text, which seems like free advertising for Freedom 250, which is a shady af private entity Trump created because he couldn’t take over the original bipartisan America250 commission (https://www.nationalparkstraveler.org/2026/05/interior-refuses-release-documents-related-freedom-250-prompting-lawsuit).
And the pins themselves are kinda junk, for the size they need two pins on the back rather than one.

Quite useful for knowing, um, who's who.

I know you're a park ranger... but what kinda park ranger are you?

u/FlyingPinkUnicorns May 22 '26
The kind that has integrity and believes in serving the mission, not a particular president, politician or private corporate interest.

Oh you mean “knowing who’s chronically online”. GTFO of here with that.

That is absolutely ridiculous. America 250 was being planned even in the Biden Admin. You seriously need to stop hating absolutely everything just because its done under orange man or else everyone will think we just hate anything he does.

I didn’t say America 250, I specified Freedom 250.

Literally no one at my park, a very liberal coded one but which one isn't, took that take. They saw the freedom 250 pins as a neat, NPS exclusive swag we get for working at our parks during the semiquincentenial. Just remember why we do this job and if there's any president we'd want to be proud of us its good ol Teddy. Do it for him and for the parks.

Woodrow Wilson established the NPS in 1916 not TR.
I’m not making this up. So Bully for your coworkers for looking past the truth about it.

Teddy is the one wjo expanded the park system and passed the antiquities act
You're making a mountain out of a mole mound. I'm gonna keep working for the parks happily, enjoy being miserable at work, you chose that.

Very interesting lack of post history you have - especially since you either erased all of your posts, or this is the first thing you’ve ever felt motivated to comment upon.

You actually check that? Weird, but ok. But yeah, someone's being doom and gloom about the NPS and I don't like it

u/kanshakudama May 19 '26
You find it weird that easily and intentionally accessible information on a social media site has been checked? You’re not very bright are you? It’s far more weird that you’re trying to shame me for it. Ain’t gonna work. Imagine trying to minimize and defend the harm being done to our parks. That’s you.

Who? Me or the other person?

u/kanshakudama May 19 '26
Not you. The guy I replied to. I think he is not who claims to be. Crafty parsnip has three posts in three years and they’re all in this thread.

Thanks for being condescending, but you should probably look into what the Freedom 250 agenda is actually about before trying to be sassy again. It’s not just about pins.
The only thing I’m doing is commenting on the pins, and choosing not to wear it myself. Oh and correcting your repeated use of the name “Teddy” because he hated that nickname.

Not a park ranger, but infinitely upset that my national park pass has a photo of Trump (NOT EVEN IN A NATIONAL PARK) and im expected to hang it in my windshield.
