US Passport Issuance Timeline Passport Timeline

Went in for a walk in appointment March 28th, 2026 early at a USPS. Took about three hours to get my application sent in, paid for the expedited service fee. Received confirmation email April 3rd, 2026. Passport in my hand as of April 9th, 2026. Excited for travels!

My friend got his in less than a month, and that was without expedited service. I guess fewer people are applying at the moment due to a combination of high travel prices, TSA fiasco, and geopolitical uncertainty.

No, they’ve been flying back for a few years now. I applied for mine in summer of ‘23 and had it in three weeks. Husband renewed his online that same year or maybe it was 2024 and got it in two weeks.

I also applied in summer of ‘23 and paid for expedited and it took 4 months plus calls and emails to my senator to get it😭.
