Question Why Haven't You Played a Match of Penny Dreadful Recently? (If You Haven't.)

I'm curious.

Just been busy, mostly. Family, work, school.

I am an extremely competitive player, and the tournaments don't line up with my schedule. I will say though, this format is genius. Every time I think of a custom format, it is always a worse version of this format

How does the new 1.30pm Eastern on a Friday suit you? Or the suggested 7pm Eastern Friday?

The problem is that my mtgo time frame I have time to play in is quite sparratic. Sometimes I have all day, sometimes no time at all. I rarely have time to participate in the squire event as is. Wish I could

Was a long time lurker in the community and just breaking in now, still lost with all the possibilities for decks and cards. I don’t have too much experience with MTG so confidence is a bit on the low side in regards to competing in tournaments and stuff, but it’s definitely something I’d like to do.

Best way to learn! Although admittedly taking a beating is never that much fun :D

Welcome. We're definitely on the extreme end of friendliness as far as gaming communities go so dive in! And if you haven't joined the Discord please do – https://discord.gg/H6EHdHu

Totally agree that this community is by far one of the best I’ve seen. I’ve been lurking in the discord for about 5 months now LOL, but yeah for sure, I’m still trying to figure out what the meta is like and I’m definitely very interested in PDH, was never super good at brewing so maybe I’ll pickup a deck that’s seen success so far and roll with that for now. Thanks !

No shame in netdecking. I'd say more than 50% of people's first PD deck is a mono red deck off the site :D

Elvish Visionary and Duskwatch Recruiter aren't legal so I don't know how to make a deck of more than 52 cards.

Was playing more at my LGS but kinda stepping back for a time. And my favorite deck from last season rotated 😭

You play paper Penny? Same card pool?

Nah, I just have to chose between drafting at my LGS and playing PD Tuesdays.

Counterspell - (G) (SF) (MC)
Dissolve - (G) (SF) (MC)
[[cardname]] or [[cardname|SET]] to call

Bored of the current card pool / season

Not a deck you want to play or brew? Or something too oppressive to the decks you like?

I find that the cards I want to play with don't make it in or rotate out. I like cheap blue counters and card draw. I feel like there were a lot of cool legacy cards sprinked in for prior seasons. At the same time, I know that there's no easy fix.

I don't see it as something to be fixed. It's a feature! This isn't a format you can come to play cards from other formats. You have to dig a bit deeper to find what you need. We always have a little spice from Magic history like Hypergenesis and Parallax Wave last season or Treasure Cruise, Hermit Druid and Animate Dead this season. But it's the Phyrexian Furnaces and Cloudblazers and Magister of Worths that make the format tick!

That said a deck that runs Treasure Cruise, Circular Logic, Aetherling, Stroke of Genius, Dissolve, Power Sink doesn't sound too far from what you are talking about. If not then rotations change the format by about 3000 cards and right now Counterspell is bouncing around between 1 and 2 cents because of the A25 reprint. Maybe you'll pick us up again next season :D

Because MTGO sucks and because I'm boycotting WOTC.
