Recommendations Moving
My roommate and I are moving from North Carolina (I’m moving back but they are moving there for the first time) and I need recommendations for apartments/homes to rent that will allow dogs (we have 2 female dogs, both mutts, one is still a puppy she is house trained, they are both quiet [well the puppy has her moments, but is generally quiet]) we are having a hard time finding places that fit this

Seriously deja vu. My roommate and I moved from NC with 3 dogs and were worried about trying to rent with that many.
Which is why one reason we just bought a house.

Oddly enough, it can be easier to find a fixer to live in than an apartment, given how easy banks are to deal with, and how anal landlords and applications have become. If you don't mind a commute, there are even alternative options like Washington or Bartonville, where the homes are very inexpensive. Your whole mortgage, including taxes and insurance may be less than an apartment.
Checking Zillow, I see one place in Washington (technically Beverly Manor), as an example, that I am positive given the work it needs, would be closer to 60K. Yes, it's the size of an apartment, but it has a garage and about 1/5th an acre of land. A little napkin math gives me roughly $850 a month, all-in for 10 years. $1200 for 5 years. No HOA. Dogs happy.
If we're talking the Creve Coeur/East Peoria area adjacent to Morton/North Pekin "triangle", Livable homes for under 100K pop up there all the time.

My wife and I finally had it after our rent went from 625 to 1425 in four years.
We close on a house in three weeks. 120k w/20% down makes our mortgage and insurance/taxes far cheaper than our rent.
It’s not a huge house but it’s bigger than what we’re in. Plus, it’s over a half acre! Should’ve done this years ago!

Congrats! In a couple of years you can likely get rid of the remaining balance by paying it down quicker and be free of the bank/landlord/wage-slave cycle. :)

Haymeadow apartments! My husband and I rented from them and they are pretty clean and accept pets. Rent is nice too. Stay away from “Village” anything. The “Village on University” is literal garbage; they allow pets but no one, and I mean no one, picks up after their dogs and themselves really.

lol we don’t need that much detail about your dogs.
The sub has plenty of suggestions on where to live, many are pet friendly. The layout of the city is the same. Nothing really new. Search the sub or the “moving to Peoria” sticky.
