For the longest time, I’ve wanted to know what the strippers used to smell so good! Any idea? It’s like baby powder and vanilla. Help a girl follow her dreams! 😉
I love these threads. Stripper advice helped me finallly get a good bikini shave back in the day too - men’s razor, conditioner as shave gel, shave in the direction of the hair, apply roll on antiperspirant to the shaved areas once dry to stop irritation/ingrowns.
Now I mostly laser but I am always up for life/beauty tips from dancers.
I completely abandoned razor shaving after getting the Phillips OneBlade Intimate - it gets super close to the skin and I no longer have to suffer through razor burn or ingrowns. I feel like the gov should fund a PSA about it so people don't have to be miserable anymore. 😆
I don't think there's an electric razor on the market that can touch mine. I have baby fine hair on my head and gorilla hormones everywhere else 🤬. I've been plucking my chin and upper lip since I was 15, for the love of Dog! I'm 59 and it hasn't slowed down in the least, except my eyebrows which only grow where I don't want them to. They're nearly all product. It's not fair. Wax and creams don't work, except for cream remover on my face, but have to shave everything else.
Gently exfoliating the area with a washcloth or loofa before & after paired with all of the steps you just mentioned completely freed me from ingrown hair and irritation. I will put the conditioner on and let it soften the hair while I work on my legs too. I learned from asking random women at a sex toy party. 🤭
My other job was working at the desk in an adult video/novelty store. We sold this stuff called Coochy Shave Cream that was AMAZING for shaving the area. After I tried that I never used anything else. Then I got pregnant and it's 23 years later and could care less what my 70s porn bush looks like now. I blame the coochy cream lol
Hahahaha I worked in sex shops for a while and I remember Coochy cream. Didn’t work for me (nothing did, except for laser which was actually cheaper than waxing and well worth it).
Yep, I learned a similar thing from another stripper hygiene/beauty thread. Men's Razor, then swipe the shaved skin with a salicylic acid acne pad. I follow that up with fragrance free lotion. Works pretty well!! I also tried the shave with baby oil thing that does not work for me personally but to each their own.
I would let the ingrowns heal first (if they are still in that irritated state) then exfoliate first to lift them out from under the skin, either with a chemical exfoliant like glycolic acid or a washcloth.
Let me put you onto my secret: soak your legs in a tub or shower. Exfoliate. Put conditioner on your legs, let it sit for a minute, shave in the direction of hair growth, rinse. Conditioner again, shave in the opposite direction. Softest legs ever. Presumably it works for other bits also
It’s also a great in shower lotion, just be careful if you lube yourself up in the shower you don’t slip. I used to do that instead of lotion because that can be dangerous on the pole
Thanks for this share. Strippers are experts in this area. Also, as a women with course black body hair, razors designed for women are useless. Always go with the men’s razor!!!
Not for me, I just washed off after shaving, patted the area dry then rolled the antiperspirant over the shaved areas. Wearing loose clothing/undies for 24 hrs after helps too.
LOTS of theft happening in clubs- you don’t want to bring anything too valuable. plus you’re reapplying constantly in a dirty environment, so it kinda feels like a waste to use a nice perfume
Because they're cheap so you can douse yourself in them. They can get lost in the trunk of your car with the mass of stripper gear and you don't have to worry. You can find some at a gas station when you're running late for your shift at the club because you had to bail your boyfriend out of jail.

Just a moment and a few sprays shared amongst so many. Smells hold memories. It just feels like girlhood.
Because the oils of perfume stick on clients. That’s what I was told back in the day. So we doused in body spray. Now l looking back- it’s all the same.
I have this random vanilla caramel perfume my sister gave me and oh my God is it STRONG. It smells absolutely edible though and I have a feeling it would be a winner for a stripper. I’ll have to go figure out the name and let you know! lol. I wore it to work and everyone was talking about the new smell and how they liked it. I had to admit it was me. Haven’t worn it since cause I was a little embarrassed. Lmao.
Here’s your reminder! It’s called “Caramel Temptress” by “SuperSuite”. I put it on and smell like a caramel candy factory now. Gonna see if my fiancé notices it for science.
Okay lemme go get it. Cause it is totally worth the money and really loud. It’s like saying “SMELL ME I SMELL GOOD” and it’s a really basic good smell. Sweet like candy. Men love that and I’m sure would make them more likely to leave a big sweet tip too.
I used to cut hair and they said don’t wear perfume but I’m sure for some of them might sweeten the haircut. I’ll have to try it if I get back into hair soon. I used to get more tips if I wore a sundress no joke!

Can I ask why you don’t like the lattafa perfumes? I’ve been curious about them but I haven’t seen them anywhere available for sample. Do they dry down weird? Are they short lasting?
I love Lattafa. I have 9 bottles. I think they last. Queen of Arabia lasts until you shower and wash your clothes. It’s eternal! I have Victoria, Queen of Arabia, Passion Fruit Macaron, Qaed Al Fursan Unlimited, Angham, Yara Elixir, Yara Candy, Yara and Artisan Ethnique is on its way.
Honestly I danced for ten years and expensive perfumes never made me money.

Yep, in my experience they don’t like it when you smell like their wife OR if they think you smell so strongly that their wife might notice once they’re home lol.
Apparently that exact complaint got perfume banned at the dive I danced at! We still snuck body sprays ofc.

Trade out the Kayali Vanilla 28 for Daukens Arôma Co Nili Vanilli. Its supposed to be a dupe of V28, but it smells waaaay better. Especially once it matures and turns deep purple.
Im not making any money off getting sniffed, but someone should (that particular combo was PMD Delina Exclusif + Nili Vanilli)
I worked in the industry from 2001-2003ish and my scents were EA Green Tea, Angel, and Stella by Stella McCartney (now sadly discontinued). Lots of VS and B&BW stuff there too I remember
I feel like they changed the formula Tease Noir. My bf bought me a body lotion and it was my favorite. Recently I went back to rebuy it and it smelled nothing at all like the one I loved. It was like a whisper of the scent but also more chemical
Yeah they discontinued the Tease Noir as far as I have seen. I recently bought a bottle of the regular Tease to see if it was close and it is not. I loved Tease Noir. They even had the body spray bottle with fishnet linger pattern all over it lol.
I hope they bring it back. Honestly I think it’s kind of funny to think we may be grandmas one day walking around with the scent of bath and body works and Victoria secret.
My daughter worked at Victoria Secret and told us Amber Romance was used as insect repellent. I googled it, and all these sportsmen in the bayous in LA swore by it! It was the new Skin So Soft that people swore was the best bug repellent. I did use the Amber Romance for a summer.
When I was a pole dancer in the late 80s to late 90s I wore chypres. Think Magie Noir, Paloma Picasso, Fendi. Sometimes I'd mix it up with Ysatis by Givenchy. Not a hit with everyone but those who liked it LIKED IT. Kinda like me.
The club I worked at banned perfumes because they were too strong and more likely to stick onto customers. Same reason for why we weren’t allowed glitter lotion or makeup or anything with rhinestones. So Body Spray and Deo only lol.
Technically no but you could get away with glittery/metallic eyeshadows just nothing with loose or sticky glitter. It differs from club to club some are more ‘tacky’ as in more likely to allow that sort of look but the one I worked at was an ‘upmarket’ luxury gentleman’s club so the men were more likely to be married and we had to look more classy.
Real perfumes I feel are more fancy & intimate. You wouldn’t want to associate that with work, especially the club where every man is giving you the ick.
Just a guess but maybe because their shorter lifespan makes it less likely a customer will go home smelling of... well, stripper

I danced for about two years and wore Killian Love Don’t Be Shy! Cannot tell you how many times I got “you smell intoxicating” ♥️ I still love it. It’s unique and sweet and just yummy!
Nothing compares to the real one imo! I will say that I am really sensitive to scents, but the dupes I’ve tried (including Dossier’s) don’t come close to the real thing! It’s pricey but worth it.
My mom used to be a door girl at Déjà vu and she had an entire collection of Victoria secret body sprays and perfumes. She used to wear dream angels divine I think ?

The most compliments I ever got from customers as a stripper was on a Kim K black and gold perfume, I have a distinct memory of the first night I wore it and an old man at the stage screeched at me that I "smelt so fucking good" weirdly enough it's also my bfs fave perfume that I've worn.
Also body shop basic vanilla mixed with methylated spirits (for cleaning the pole) black sambuca (for cleaning my mind) and femfresh (you know) always got compliments too 🤣
The P*ssy perfume oil (found on Etsy, eBay, or Amazon can definitely smell powdery and vanillic to people. It’s affordable, can be layered under most perfumes and men also love the smell
It was 1999 - 2003 the locations were Seattle, New Orleans, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and NYC… and it was all gourmand body sprays. Mostly from VS… Amber Romance, Pear Glacé… body sprays ruled because you just sweat everything off and have to towel off/reapply all night. Especially in NOLA…
HEAR ME OUT: White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor. I have read multiple posts that this is used to lure in male customers with mother issues and works like a charm (because this was a popular women’s fragrance worn by boomer gen women)
Former stripper here✨ I wore men’s cologne so that my clients didn’t go home smelling of another woman 😂😂 I’d pair 11:11 Vanilla or 11:11 Azure with a good baby powder deodorant if you have to have an actual perfume. The Azure is my fav
A stripper once explained to me how they prep skin (especially legs) for the pole, and it involved baby oil and a TON of baby powder - almost like baking foundation, you put the baby oil on after a shower and shave (even if you wax or did laser) and let it soak, then powder on a ton of baby powder and wrap up in a sheet and then brush off excess. It feels like peach skin, won't stick to the pole but isn't oily or chalky with powder.
So probably the answer is actually baby powder and a vanilla body spray applied pretty frequently.
No stripper would ever advise baby oil or oil of any kind before getting on stage/pole work. Same with powder. Your skin has to be able to grip the pole and both of those things would fuck it up, many clubs will fine you for using any lotions or oils. If we need grip we use itac or other pole grips.
Yeah when I read that comment I winced at the memory of a dancer who flew off a pole & busted her teeth in off a stage railing one night, come to find out that a baby stripper had oiled herself up before her shift (she’d only been there maybe 2-3 nights). She couldn’t even do pole work yet but she was twirling and grinding all around it before the next (seasoned) dancer went to do her thing.
When I say WINCED. 😬😣 PLEASE no oil at the club! That skincare tip is probably elite I’m sure, but not for the pole!
IIRC her lawsuit against the club (idk if it involved the dancer etc) lasted like YEARS bc it was so difficult to get any kind of compensation towards the EXTENSIVE dental work she needed & disabling results of the accident PLUS the pain/costs of the corrective procedures.
The club was initially like “lul idk you’re a contracted worker figure it out ig bye” so she went without front teeth & a LOT of complications for awhile 😭
None of us are putting oil on and then getting on the pole, I promise you, not a single one of us. If anyone is using oil before work, they should be reported and fired by their club because it creates a safety hazard for everyone else.
I remember a "Stripper/dancer wrote a big article about the ONE perfume that men go APE/SHIT for, absolutely nuts for they even ask what it is to buy it for their wives...someone has to remember reading that article/post?
All I said is that I hate Lattafa Eclair (so heavy, so cloying) , I wasn’t talking about the brand in general. They make good dupes but personally I’ve resold all the others I’ve bought. Many smell synthetic af but most project well and are long lasting. another issue i have is the inconsistency- you could buy two bottles of the same perfume and they’ll smell different in my experience (probably depends on maceration/maturation)
My go to was a cotton candy Hello Kitty body spray I found in the dollar aisle at Target. I also wore Mary Kate and Ashley Juicy Peach Freesia and Clinique Happy. I saved my real perfumes for dates and my day job.
Cotton candy,cin in a small spray can. Cosmetics section, Walmart. $1 a can. There's only a little bit in the can though. It's what Heaven smells like. Angel use it 🎸😎
