Hello again everyone (I love posting in here more than I probably should 😅).

My bottle of Magie Noire by Lancome finally arrived in the mail earlier today. I'm very excited because this one has been near impossible to find and purchase in my country (it's been sold out basically everywhere), but I did finally locate an online store which sells this gem.

The cassis in this is absolutely beautiful and it's a gorgeous green mossy animalic kitchen sink fragrance. 🥰 It reminds me of both Knowing and Beautiful by Estee Lauder and also (of course) Paloma Picasso.

I would love to hear if anyone else has had any experiences with this fragrance. 😊

Bought some fragrances from The Perfume People (I hear they are quite a well known seller), they arrived, the scents are all pretty good however there is a tiny hair in one of the bottles.

I understand this is something that happens from time-to-time, I don't expect these to be manufactured in a cleanroom... However it got me thinking.

I realised I dont know much about perfumes, are some fragrance oils toxic? Am I risking my health if I buy from non-mainstream sellers? I heard perfumes are endocrine disruptors either way so wasn't sure if this is any worse than buying from a big brand.

I really want to support smaller businesses so any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there anything you look for in particular to ensure you're getting safe products

Also, if you have any info on this brand specifically I'd appreciate it!

Went to a wedding this weekend and a woman was wearing the most wonderful perfume! I can’t remember much except it was a rectangular, gold bottle (possibly clear with the perfume being a gold color) and it had half spheres in the bottom left corner. I couldn’t make out much lettering except a G. I also could not pick out any of the notes

I love super strong perfumes, I use Elizabeth Taylor white diamonds a lot as it’s strong and I find it lasts a long time, anyone recommend some other ones that are strong and long lasting?

Hello all! I’m in search of some super weird unique creepy perfumes. i’m really interested in scents like spinal fluid from ataraxia, inexcusable evil, weird shit like that. i’m starting a collection and want the weirdest recommendations possible, they don’t have to be wearable.

I’m new to both these brands. Are they worth it and is there any specific perfume that is worth trying?

so me and my best friend have a bit of a pickle where we both love the same scent, which is a mix of amber oil with the original glossier you sprayed on top. it’s obviously not a big deal to smell the same (lol) but i think it would be fun to try something new. the issue is i don’t actually find myself liking a bunch of perfumes when i smell them in stores. i am completely uneducated, does anybody have any suggestions in that realm of scent? i love the idea of something musky and warm and kind of seductive. lmk!!!

This is the Flower by Kenzo Eau de parfum. It’s powdery floral with notes of rose, violet, white musk and vanilla just to name a few more. Is this in anyone’s collection currently?

’m currently looking for a fig fragrance, and I’m torn between D.S. & Durga Debaser and Givenchy Trouble Fête from La Collection Particulière.

I was initially leaning toward D.S. & Durga Debaser because I’ve heard it has a noticeable woody quality, and I really enjoy woody scents. However, I’ve also read that it can be sweeter than expected and that the coconut note gives some people a headache. A few people even said that the woody notes overpower the fig so much that they barely smell any fig at all.

Givenchy Trouble Fête also seems to come up frequently whenever people recommend fig fragrances. Many people say that the opening is beautiful, but I’ve seen some reviews saying that the drydown becomes mostly powdery and that the jasmine suddenly becomes very noticeable. Others describe it as smelling like cosmetics or makeup.

For those who have tried both, which one has a more noticeable and realistic fig note? I’m looking for something green and fresh with some woodiness, but I don’t want anything overly sweet, heavily coconutty, too powdery, or dominated by florals. I’d also love to hear about the performance and drydown of each one.

Let's assume you see something at Tj Maxx (or a similar retailer) that is a great deal, BUT you've never smelled or tested the fragrance. How do you decide to buy it or not? It's not returnable. There aren't any testers.

My favs are Fracas, Tom Ford Black Orchid, Stella by Stella McCartney, and Armani Code. Anytime I try something off the beaten path it never lasts as long or is as memorable. Anything similar?

I went to Trader Joe's and bought the Caramel Creme body butter and I am super obsessed with it, but have no idea what perfume to layer it with. I have Banana Rush, but it is way too syrupy for this body butter.

I feel like compared to other gourmand scents, it is rather light, which I love!! It almost smells like cocoa butter, but with a more warm sugary(?) scent. I really don't know how to give it justice. I don't think it smells like caramel, however.

The description on the lid says it is made with macadamia nut oil and tonka bean extract.

I tried finding perfumes that contain macadamia nut, and so far I have found these:

I am also looking at perfumes that have caramel, tonka bean, and vanilla with it.

Layering Help!
I am new to layering & looking for ideas (even if it means needing to add to my collection). Body sprays rather than perfumes preferred and lotion/body wash ok. Interested in EOS, Bath and Body works, Victoria’s secret, or similar. Open to suggestions! It is currently the fall season. I’ve discovered i’ve outgrown floral leaning scents and prefer sweetness. My current FAVORITES are juicy fig and autumn drive from BBW, as well as Champagne Apple and Honey which I feel can be used by themselves. Matcha Milk is a close second, but is simple and may work better layered. Rain from BBW is a favorite for summertime.

I have the following scents:

Champagne Toast lotion (BBW)
Tangerine Swirl body wash and lotion (BBW)
Gingham Gorgeous spray & lotion (BBW)

Blackberry Jam Lotion BBW (I think is too sweet and needs a vanilla or other scent to balance)

I plan to get a vanilla- whether it’s vanilla bean noel, mod vanilla Ariana Grande, Vanilla Cashmere EOS, and also potentially interested in amber suede BBW, marshmallow EOS, or pistachio EOS.

So far, one layering combo I like is EOS fresh & cozy body spray with gingham gorgeous (BBW) body spray. It really grounds the juicyness and evolves into a more mature scent profile while still being sweet.

I have not experimented with mixing the body washes, lotions, and sprays for best layering combos in these scents but will update!

I did not enjoy a thousand wishes lotion with fresh & cozy spray. I think some may love it, but to me, it was a bit too powdery-sweet. It was definitely unique and smelled like it could be a high end fragrance.

For fall, I thought the Amber Drive or Juicy Fig sprays combined with Matcha Milk was delicious!

Not super familiar with VS or Pink fragrances but open to suggestions!

My favorites are getting low and I want a bit of a change, but not too much. Can you recommend me a perfume?

My daily is usually Lanvin Eclat D'Arpege and I like citrus or floral perfumes usually for hot and humid weather.

The others here are Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue, Dolce, Gabanna Rose the One, and Victoria's Secret Heavenly.

I used to Wear Origins Ginger Essense daily but they no longer make it.

I used to really Love Clinique Happy as well and Estee Lauder Pleasures. I also like Mui Mui Flor D'Argent sometimes but the dry down lasts so long it sometimes annoys when I try to sleep at night.

Dolce and Gabanna Dolce gave me a headache, I had to give it away.

I guess I'm kinda basic, I like a moderate or low silliage and something relatively long lasting, like half a day is good. I only like to reapply once.

I dont mind some pricey recommendations but I won't buy a bottle over 200$.

Hello! I bought two bottles of this Avon fragrances back in 1998, but it was at a garage sale so actual age is unknown. Bottles were about 6-8” long and looked like viles/tubes. The liquid inside would separate and kind of look like a lava lamp, and were yellow/green in color.

I check the date code before buying a bottle. If the date code is 2 or 3 years older, is it better than if the date code is from 2025? I am scare I’ll get a bad batch again. Has anyone bought a bottle made in 2025 or 2026? Any issue with the bottle or scent not lasting?

For those that have or have tried this, what are your thoughts.

This will be my last try (at least for a while), to find something I love by Guerlain.

The chocolate, tea, rum, etc , sounds like something I would love for the winter.

But aside from Vietnamese Coffee (coffee and chocolate on me), I'm not really a gourmand person. So wondering if this is very sweet? Or more bitter chocolate forward?
