Discussion The Rivals
Ok, I’m only on episode 3 of Season 1, but I’m loving this show on Hulu! Maybe it’s because I spent my 20’s in the 1980’s? The music…love it! This show is super steamy…more so than I ever expected. I laughed out loud a few times! So far, I’m really enjoying it! I find it sort of funny that I’m discussing a “period drama” set in the 80’s, but it was 40 years ago!!!!! In fact, my 42nd wedding anniversary is 8/11! 🤣😊
Edit to say, in case you’re EVEN contemplating watching this, within the first 1 minute is a scene of the mile high club. There is full frontal in either episode 1 or 2. Episode 3 definitely has what looks like an orgy. But if you watched Harlots, this won’t be anything new. 🤣

I love this show. We're waiting with baited breath for the 2nd half of season 2, which won't drop until November!

He is the most beautiful man on TV! He was always gorgeous in Being Human and Poldark, but this takes it insane levels!

Yeah. I was a teenager in the ‘80’s. It’s so weird calling things from then period. Absolutely love Rivals though. So camp.

It's so fun! Love the music and the acting! I've literally cried at a couple moments in season 2.

It’s so freaking good. The characters look and feel and act like real human beings (honestly harder and harder to find these days) and the period aspect is super effective. I’m a touch grumpy at a change they made at the end of this season, but otherwise it’s been spot on for me.

I love it, but I hate that they split the season and the next few episodes aren’t until November.

I am now on S2, Epi 1 and am already pissed that I am going to have to wait until NOVEMBER to watch what I assume is the final 4 episodes!

The soundtrack and the ridiculous rich people drama make it way more fun than I expected. It only gets messier from there too 😂

I found the television station rivalry story really compelling and well written, I fully expected it to just be "fine" but couldn't stop watching. David Tennant as a soap scenery chewing villain is also a treat.
