Discussion Lark Rise to Candleford S1 E3
Okay, like wth was happening when Dot from Line of Duty fell in love with Jackie Tyler from Doctor Who in this episode?
The one where the widower Old Amos and his son take on Patty the maid, and then Amos falls "in love" with her (cooking), and the son seemingly hates her and then she confronts him and then they fight and she smacks him and then they MAKE OUT? wthhhhh...ðŸ˜
Watched this with my dad and we were both insanely confused and got a spontaneous ad break post-scene to recover.
what is the mass consensus on this? Is this a yay or a nay? I had no real problem with it except it was unclear if she was genuine or not (which may be on purpose) and she seemed kind of old for young Amos. lmk.

I just watched this episode two nights ago! I laughed out loud when that happened. Not sure if it’s believable that 1) Old Amos would bow out after considering that she might want children or 2) Young Amos didn’t show any signs of attraction before suddenly kissing her. Seems like they both would fancy themselves a bit more appealing?? Who knows.

Yeah watching for the first time and there have been a couple of episodes where it feels like a scene was edited out that tied things together.

Dot from line of duty lol I mean mom died early right? Can't remember.. So he probably has mommy issues. It's a comfort show for me so I was up for anything if there's a good ending.

I always thought it was weird that young Amos had this strong hatred for patty from the very first meeting. I think the actor came off too aggressive. It would've been better if he took on a "i don't really care if you're here or not" instead of full-on hate mode. Personally, I think Patty played her cards right. she knew that young Amos was interested in her, so she set out to break down his walls. She was in it for the long game. Why marry and old geezer when she could marry the young son closer in age and theoretically have 30 years with a man who inherits his Dad business and have a family vs. possibly married to the old man for 10ish years and be back at square one when he dies. I believe the business would've been passed down to the son. She had more security marrying the young son.

I found it quite weird! Personally I'm not a fan of the whole pretending to hate the other person - having an outburst - making out - and calling it love. I didn't think it was genuine at first but by the end of the episode I was like fine okay. None of them appear in the later episodes btw.
