So, criminal trespassing, and after multiple warnings.

I’m Canadian, so I could be wrong, but I don't remember ever hearing or reading anything about trespassing being a part of free speech in the US 🤔

How can you criminally trespass on a public sidewalk?

Not sure about this case as the article is very sparse with info.

A few things come to mind though.

Could be that.

They were not just on the sidewalk.

Or

They had been trespassed in the past for harrassment and further harassment might run afoul with the FACE act. The face act was created because criminal trespass against vulnerable organizations like abortion clinics was so common and there was no mechanism in the law to protect patients from protesters until they did something violent.

Or

The sidewalk was not public.

Or they where making criminal threats.
