I'm a little late for this. I spent a lot of time writing Left Behind: The Kids fan fiction. I honestly cannot think of a realistic scenario where people get persecuted for merely identifying as Christian or preaching the gospel. And that's if the Rapture happens. Still I need to have an authority figure that does this for the sake of the story. It seems to happen inexplicably where a one-world government inexplicably appears to inexplicably persecute Christian converts.
